Good call. However, on third day, preferred lie applied on course…
the LIV strength of field in the top 10 is equally as strong as PGA, if not stronger.
Just throwing this out there… he didn’t mash the club hard.. could he just be seeing if the ground was mushy??
I agree with your assessment Matt. It’s a rules violation and warrants a penalty. However, the title of your episode seems a little dramatic and click baitish. Just constructive criticism. Love your podcasts overall.
He was testing the ground to see if it’s too wet to place it there. Nothing to see here.
Not cheating
How many other players did this or similar during the LIV event or PGA Match this weekend? Bubba was on camera and others may not have been. Maybe he was tapping the area to see if it still saturated before placing his ball? I’m all for the rules but I don’t think in this situation it’s a punishable offense for Bubba alone
the rule isn't: 1. lift, 2. clean, 3. IMRPOVE, 4. place … it's: 1. lift, 2. clean, 3. place
I believe LIV Golf plays preferred lies at every tournament.
There are circumstances,by rule, in which your playing partners and you decide the outcome of a situation. Where a ball crossed a hazard, ball movement, etc. I believe this is one of those situations. If his playing partners didn't feel he was "cheating" or breaking a rule, then let it be. Everybody was doing things to improve their lie, Bubba's was just a little more transparent. Honestly, it looked to me like he was just checking ground conditions anyway. A step, then placing would improve the lie way more then Bubba's little taps.
Looks like he was repairing the ground like they all do on the putting green
I think it’s was more he was checking if it was a soft wet spot. You know the whole reason for the ball in hand.
Looks like he was checking to see if he was in casual water, not improve the lie. I'm not sure he proceeded under the rule though. He should have taken his stance and if he noticed water or water then appeared because of his stance, he could then take relief.
No cheating buddy
Relaxed rules
Shorts rule
I don’t see any difference between this, and Wyndham Clark’s possible ball movement at the US Open. Too close to call either.
Giving out penalties after you finished your round is garbage. No other sport organization does that. Example, the Houston Astros.
…Bubba should of got a penalty for improving his lie. Did he think he was in the tee box. 😂😂
RE: 54 v 72 Holes: Another way to look at it, maybe it's harder to win because you have less holes to make up strokes and catch up to a leader …?
Golf fans are like those dorks in school that were just waiting to see a person mess up so they could tell the teacher.
Thumbnail ! just looking for views. If you didn't think he cheated why do this video ?
Not cheating
You don’t have to place the ball in the same cut. It must be placed in the general area. Fairway, rough except green.
Simple.. if the rules comittee did not penalise him for his actions, then he did not break the rules.
All rules of golf R&A / USGA / local rules are at the discretion of the tournament rules comittee..
