Probably helps him hit the center of the face while cutting across the ball.

I just started doing this & it’s helped correct my slice for the most part lol

It works for him. I line mine up on the toe because I tend to do the opposite of him, I guess, and I’ll hit the occasional hosel rocket if I don’t.

Watch the Pros. They don’t all like it up right on the sweet spot. Different strokes can all get the same result.

I think this helps him find the slot.

I started this a few weeks ago. No more limp dick ground balls off the toe

Strange. The normal advice is to line up the ball with the toe of your driver when you’re driver is on the ground, because when you lift up the driver head to ball height, the center of the driver head then lines up with the ball.
Maybe he really squats down in the down swing that he needs that extra few inches

Martin Borgmeier suggests this to help clear your front side. If you’re gonna try it, make sure you know what you’re doing before you snap a club at the hosel

It’s surprisingly hard to hit off the hosel when you aim to hit off the hosel. Some people find lining up to the toe works too. It’s worth trying at the range. I started lining up hosel like brad earlier this year.

Wesley Bryan does the same thing. Not sure either of these guys need to “fix a slice”, but they’ll have their reasons.

If you watch his body in his swing he moves a lot to his left. Probably helps him avoid hitting off the toe

His swing looks so ugly to me, but god damn, he’s so good at golf lol

I do this from time to time with all clubs.
I went on vacation and came back after 8 days to the range and my contact was shit. No matter what I did I shanked like 95% of a bucket of balls (I was also letlagged and up for like 20 hours and out of practice for a bit lol).
Next day I went back to the range, casually chatted with a guy a bit and told him I was hitting only the hozel after vacation. He recommended I do this at address as a drill. After that I poured every shot. My guess is it must be to promote pure contact and adjust the club path a bit because you’ll naturally come a bit less from the inside when doing this

It’s because he stands up during his swing.
I was advised to do the same to correct mine.

Everyone is different but I had to do the opposite for a long time to correct my slice. I would think this is set up for an inside out swing. I always set up with the ball on the toe so I had to “reach” for the ball to prevent the inside out swing that caused my slice.

He really needs to relax in his setup. That can’t be doing him any favors.
