#54 Taking Down Troublesome Trees

Dick told Jane his plan to buy tree climbing gear to take out troublesome trees that threatened the homestead. This proclamation did not sit right with Jane. There are some jobs better left to licensed professionals.

At last year’s Paul Bunyan show in Ohio, Tony and Toby from Husqvarna climbed planted trees at the Guernsey County Fairgrounds. They gave several incredible in-depth presentations about the gear, tools, and chainsawing techniques.

Not far away from the Husqvarna stage, much to Jane’s vexation, vendors sold spiked shoes, ropes, harnesses and all the paraphernalia needed to mount a tree. For three days, they walked past without browsing. Jane took credit, thinking she’d distracted Dick with remote controlled lawnmowers and chainsaw artists across the way.

Back on the pond, Dick let Jane know she had nothing to worry about, all along. He was just joking, pulling her leg.

But now, after watching the Dixie Tree Removal and Landscape crew use a cherry-picker and a skid steer, Dick might be reconsidering. Those guys made work fun.

That skid steer though, did you see how fast it moves, and that it can pick up a log the tractor can’t lift?
