Did Bryson DeChambeau and Phil Mickelson just prove that LIV Golf is out of touch with their fans?

  1. Here I am watching those influencers and liv. I am 52 lol! I still watched after Phil messed up but I was going for him. I always pull for the older guys. We got to stick together! I like watching Cam too but not as into it then because figured he had it won. But he is usually one of my top 5 picks in tournaments. The matches with influencers would be neat! One of my daughters only watches golf accounts like GG on insta or tiktok and doesn't bother with YT. She says golf YT videos are too long, especially my videos. 🥲She is 21 and not really much into golf but did play in hs.

  2. Yea it’s an older conservative audience. I was surprised when my dad said he was watching it. I watch it too. But I also feel it’s hard to stream, and that’s the problem.. guarantee most people watch it on cable

  3. I think you're correct. I am not sure if LIV in general is out of touch or maybe they don't have the correct people in the social media positions. There was much talk last year about LIV not having a television deal. That was a big deal in the eyes of many tradition analysts but to me it meant nothing because I just want to be able to stream my golf on the computer, tablet or phone. Kids of today watch zero TV from my experience, I am 49 and hardly watch TV.
As for picking the influencers I think that's all going to come down who is watching what online. I am in Australia and have never seen one Goodgood YouTube video and until the last couple of weeks had not even heard of them. I watch YouTube golf every day but of course it only pushes the content you are interested in so my little group of channels that I watch are most likely unknown to most other people. My current favourite is Ron Chopper Golf. A great watch but he has only a few followers and with so much golf content out there the audience is going to be spread thin.

  4. Bryson is also a huge influencer and has played with all those other influencers. The younger golfers are definitely their audience.

  5. I’m 59 and watch the Bryson Phil match as well as the the others, and you sir have hit the nail on the head!! Would like to see another Good Good Championship too, that was awesome!!!

  6. Great perspective. I watch LIV. I’m middle age. All my favorites play LIV. However the LIV format is much more centered around the younger generation golfers. I also subscribe to all the channels you mentioned. I find the PGA regular schedule boring except for the Majors. I won’t watch rider cup if none of the LIV golfers are on the team. Especially if they put Justin Thomas on the team. I like him but he’s not playing good golf currently.

  7. I normally agree with your take on most things golf. I disagree here. I believe the reason the people they showed haven’t done Liv stuff is because most, if not all are sponsored by “corporate” golf companies ie TaylorMade and Callaway. They are onboard with most of the media and pga brown nosers and it’s probably a stipulation in the contracts.

  8. I still haven’t watched a LIV tv event and I don’t plan to either. They don’t show LIV at my golf course either. But, I’m a Bryson fan so, based on your info, I bounced over to Bryson’s channel and watched the match and then came back here. Disappointed that Phil won, but it was only 9 holes. Thanks for the tip.

  9. Rick said on his podcast he wanted to be incognito when he went to the London LIV event. Probably any they didn’t show him

  10. Sounds like you should reach out to these players and film videos with them. You’re sitting on your own gold mine and you’ve been to LIV events in the past with what seemed to be great access

  11. Think you are wrong. Because influencers are getting covered by LIV – the influencers will start interacting with LIV events. LIV is just in the process of expanding International Golf Tours and taking some top players from national regional tours like the PGA. The best way to rank pro golfers – is just by how much money they win per year & secondly their records at majors. LIV looks like it will soon have the highest prizes and most of the top non USA golfers. As LIV grows it will grow with influencers. Why not jump on the LIV bandwagon yourself & grow your followers by that?

  12. "LIV golf doesn't know their audience"…….100% correct, but in their defense, they have no audience, as per their viewership numbers!

  13. Bryson's channel is a direct extension of the LIV total social media. It is great that LIV allows players to create their own social media accounts knowing that as the players channels grow it will directly increase the views to LIV events.

  14. LIV Clueless? Don't think so, such a big entity like LIV have little benefit from having a large Youtube viewership. Youtube viewership doesn't bring in sponsors or broadcast deals. Having YouTube fans doesn't mean they are also going to go to a LIV tournament or watch LIV tournament on TV.

  15. You presented no analytics or data to support your argument of social media other than LIV YouTube "views". Bryson and Phil no exactly who their audience is, they are probably 2 of the most engaging and smartest guys on LIV and PGA Tour (when there). They have revolutionized golf from an equipment and play perspective. Tiger Woods has not done either. I guess you never really explained the true point of this podcast and I REALLY ENJOY YOUR CHANNEL AND THE WAY YOU PRESENT YOURSELF. I really believe you were off point, and had not thought this podcast thru carefully. Also to "your point" you only have 14K subscribers. Why? You are not engaging your audience? Who's your audience? EVERYONE he loves watching PGA/LIV/DPI… golf, getting to know the players, golf equipment… Expand you channel by introducing guests! Have legitimate PGA/LIV players on for 1:1 interviews so we can get to know them and you. Do live streaming from events. Do factory tours of major manufacturers and interview with their PGA player staff. Engage your audience instead of a talking head, it gets boring after a while. Food for thought. Peace

  16. Lastly engage you OWN AUDIENCE. When your "fans" leave comments respond to them, don't ignore your audience. You have a customer-centric based business, engage! It's disrespectful to ask us to subscribe and watch your content, when you're unwilling to engage your own subscribers. What's that say about you and your dedication to your podcast and viewers. More food for thought.

  17. Well said, Matt and I agree! I can't stand the LIV broadcast…too much distraction on the screen and all the noise/music etc…

  18. Matt, you are soooo right. Missing a clear opportunity to further along with non traditional broadcasts (i,e, youtube channels) This is in part why I thought it was fine to have their rounds broadcast on youtube and didn't need to move to traditional broadcast. The tech savey crowd sees little difference in accessing either and might even prefer youtube. Great insight.
