Thanks for watching this weeks show. There seems to be a struggle for App users and IPhone users. I have spoken to YouTube and we are trying to sort 👍
Bit confused.
I thought you said patreon was
swapping to YouTube for membership? Only that the link to join is still a patreon link?
Great show again Dan and great news about joe. Hopefully get to see him on the channel again as he’s a great guy and contributor. Well done for helping resolve the James matter, could easily have just let that ride. And Lester 👍👍👍
I hope Titleist understand that Paul likes a little rattle in his driver head 👍
Morning Dan, just back from a good round with a truly horrible 4 hole stretch thrown in there just to ruin my day. Good news re: Joe's new gig and James's compo. Never played reds, but we always play off the yellows round here, it being "tee of the day", as it's the one that has the most scope to move about, right up the the reds, or right back to the whites. It can mean holes play very differently, so you might have some very different clubbing to work out. I also watched your guest star appearance in Hannah Holdens Walton Heath vlog, where you appeared to be in full sabotage mode. 😂
I actually do this to some extent quite a lot. The back tees here in France are white and I am currently trying to beat par from the yellows, one set forward (for the men over 15.4 handicap.) Not managed yet, but not far off.
Funnily enough, I bumped into a couple of other people doing exactly what you are doing from the reds.
One scratch, the other around 4 I think.
They also said it is simply interesting to see the course differently rather than always from the back tees.
I think I might see if I can actually get a couple under from the reds.
Wonderful video again Dan! I wrote you whether you can find someone woods for Paul…. And now he get fitted by Titleist! Fantastic! I like it if golf is played fast. A complete round can be done in 3 hours! Here in the region of my home club is every year a 100 hole ich competition, 5 rounds and 10 holes on one day! You are starting early in the morning in the summer when the days already long. Then you have gone special rule: drop a ball with one penalty strokes if you loose in the rough probably somewhere. That's all, at the end the winner of scores sometimes 5 over in total? Yes, some excellent amateurs compete there. It's good for fitness and brings a lot of fun! Maybe Lester a d you should organize such a event in UK? With some sponsorship which brings money for James and others? With donation for a charity? I hope Paul gets need clubs which suits him änderbar he will perform well with them. I would like to become a good "putting man", maybe you could show me how to do it? Have you a good time!
The golfing press do not like Bryson but no matter the field or difficulty of the course shooting a 61 then following it up with a 58 ( 2 day average of 59.5! ) is INSANE
Great video. I think players should regularly play both one tee up and one tee back from the their regular tee. One tee up as you say gets you used to being under handicap. I also think playing one tee further back makes your regular tee feel easier when you go back to it. Also thanks for the James update I was checking the leaderboard and couldn't find his name. Hope Joe the Pro does well in his new job.
I am a huge fan of playing the forward tees, not only for fun, but for the same reasons you have outlined. It’s great for the confidence, and quite frankly, the place where a lot of recreational players should be playing from. Unfortunately there is a ridiculous stigma attached to this by men who can’t handle reality. It’s unfortunate because they are missing out on what could be a more enjoyable day. After getting used to scoring low it definitely hangs around from the back tees and teaches you to stay loose and be patient. I can’t tell you how many times people have asked me why I’m playing the forward tees. Now my reply is that I’m trying to get a message to the majority of the membership around here. lol
I play to a plus handicap and play the forward tees (usually on my own) at least once a week for a variety of reasons, all good.
Thanks
how's Wilbur getting on? is he still in golf?
Mssr. Hendriksen on The Michigan Business Network this past week – intriguing to hear the business side of the DHG media story. Hopefully there is some U.S. viewership growth to be had by coupling that story with the always-phenomenal content.
https://youtu.be/E1l_D7crhYM
I published a 9-hole vlog about playing from the forward tees a few weeks ago. Different perspective from Mssr. DeChambeau, though – taking what, for me, is a mental struggle with distance off the tee OUT OF my game by playing a shorter course, rather than doubling down on the risk/reward of distance.
In one of my two or three days out of the year when driver is my friend, I'll have to give this approach to playing the forward tees a try.
4:10 I use to like Bryson, no longer, but that is a great idea! I look back on my younger days and wish I could have enjoyed playing well instead of almost dreading it and wanting it over due to worrying about keeping a good round going. Lot of time to get in your own way on a golf course!
The REALLY forward tees ("women's tees" in Olde English) are never rated for men. Is that just a money issue for courses? Do they pay per set of tees rated? Is it just traditional that men don't play from those tees? If my course's Red tees were rated for men, I'd absolutely play from them for a change of pace as I do with the "Seniors' tees" already.
Chuffed for Joe the pro. Hope he'll have time to appear on the channel.
Glad to hear they were able to give James something for that error. Shame as you say because he is playing very well at the moment. Great news about Joe as well!! Would be a shame if he wasn’t working in golf anymore. “Full Miyagi style” killed me 😂 Make sure Titleist puts a rattle in the driver for Paul!
Which Is more courageous: playing from back tees and cheating with mulligans, etc. Or walking up to the forward tees and playing a distance that actually gives you a chance to enjoy the round without kickballs and holding up the group behind you? Best wishes for Joe and James. Thanks, Dan.
I was a Patreon member but can’t find where to join the YouTube members area?
Dan we was at the Belfry last week we played the PGA on the Saturday we was like drowned rats😢
Thanks Dan, always informative , great tips to improve our game. Best wishes Joe & James🎉
Great show DH. Fingers crossed for JTP and Paul.
Great show dan. Might have to try that, might make me focus on getting a good strike and not having to worry too much about hitting it as far as I can
Congrats Joe on the new job. Hope to see him on the channel occasionally. Dan, good for you for stepping in to get Jimbo some Challenge Tour starts next year, seeing that it was their error. Happy to hear you and Bernie teaming up for future events. Extremely happy Paul is getting fitted for new clubs, hope it’s a full bag fitting. I’ve played off the red tees a couple of times, especially when I’ve played with some fiends who are ladies or beginners. It puts them at ease when we tee off from the same tees. Dan, you’re a busy boy, but it’s always nice being busy doing what you enjoy. Cheers.
Good news for Joe the pro, and hopefully the 3 starts work out better for James next season. Really interested to see how new clubs work out for Paul and his take on it all. You were working hard on getting that round in and filming the SMS at the same time in front of those speed golfers 😓Great show as always Dan
Congrats to Joe. But he will certainly be missed on the channel.
I started playing from the "senior" tees in my 50's, on golf courses that had fairly high Slope Ratings (high 120's and above). If I played those courses from the "regular" tees, I just ended up playing "hybrid-ball" all day, with my irons ending up as a half-dozen chipping clubs. Too many golfers look at the overall yardage of the golf course when they are deciding which tees to play from. The most important number on the card is the SLOPE.
Good idea. Anything that builds confidence and self belief is learning to win.
Hope James makes the most of his starts and Joe loves his new job.
Well done Joe Le Pro 😎💪👍
Dan you mentioned a link to the members, can only see the patreon link?
We play 666 – 6 black (championship), 6 white and 6 red – brilliant
Great to hear that James will be getting starts on the Challenge Tour. It would have been very sad if he hadn't. Best of luck to him and Joe in his new job. He certainly has the knowledge from what I have seen.
Who won the GD Ryder Cup match??
Just got back from the AIG Women’s Open and watched the SMS – great to hear about Joe the pro & James. Looking forward to checking out the greens at Churston in September ⛳️😊⛳️
My club has us play off forward tees in mid week comps about once very two months and it certainly brings another angle of course management into the game. Strangely I don’t always score as well on these days but it does make it interesting. Glad to hear James has another opportunity next year and Joe isn’t lost from the game. Both men deserve opportunities as they’ve been great contributors to your channel Dan. 👍🏻🇦🇺
Great video Dan, great insight to the mental side of golf, I will be trying the different tees keep up the good work love watching 🏌️♂️
Never seen you play better! (My best score came when I played irons only!)
Never get tired of the very professional content on your show. Im still dumbfounded by why you don't have more subs.
Thanks for the update, Dan. Best wishes to Joe, James and Bernie. Hope Paul finds a Driver that doesn't rattle and suits him well. Thanks for the forward tee idea. At 66, I don't play from the blue or championship tee's anymore. Too much trouble for a 225 to 235 carry for Driver. This year I did have a 300 yd, carry but that was absolutely nutted and we had a blistering tailwind of 40 mph. Not something you can plan on.😉
Thanks for the vid Dan, would be great to have an update on the DHG team .. don't see or hear much of Jordan and Lee these days.
Is Patreon still happening or ending and you'll just use YouTube members area?…cheers Dan
Great news for both James & Joe – fingers crossed we'll still see them on the channel (and Gilly, he's a brilliant watch). My club played some 'birdie blast' comps off the forward tees – it's was interesting to play the course from different angles and having to consider some trouble you wouldn't normally worry about off the back/normal tees.
