Today, Mikey puts his old faithful Miura MC-501 irons in a head to head test against his new Titleist T-150 irons.

The T-150 irons are inspired by the player’s performance and feel of T100 but forged into a more confidence-inducing shape, T150 is a modern Tour iron with dialed-up speed for players seeking a little more distance.

  1. What you guys think about weakening the T150 by 2 degrees. I can’t get over playing a 44 degree PW

  2. Here’s the thing, Ian and mikey Can switch irons all the time and also do at some points. Ian fits himself in to irons yet changes hos irons alot. So how can they say that you can fit someone in a hour or and a half?

  3. I got fit and played the original T200 but wanted more feel in the short irons, plus I hated the odd flyer I would get. I got the Miura CB301 in 7-PW and ordered them to match lofts with the T200. Found no difference in ball speed and saw a bit more height and better landing angles from the Miura. Sold the T200 to my brother and got P770 in the 5-6 to combo and returned the Miura lofts to stock. No loss of distance and have added a bit more height and consistency from playing more. Purchased and waiting on the Miura KM700 to arrive but considering maybe keeping the P770 in the 5i after hearing Mike talk about hitting irons out of the rough

  4. Fitted this week into some t150s, moving from 712 AP2s, so much easier to hit. Ended up with a shaft different to what I expected, expected AMTs, but the Projectx LZ worked out better. Goes to show, listen to your fitter.

  5. Where does the new models sit comparing to AP3? I keep seeing comparisons against AP2 but not AP3

  6. Can you please post a link on the comparison video of Ian’s Titleist 150 vs PXG 0317’s?

  7. Ian, what you said about decent angle is factual, but would disagree with it's importance (I get you're optimizing distance) IMO, The height gap distance between High, Mid, and Low ball flight is more important than a stock swing landing angle. I'm a 50+ year old golfer with a scratch and below handicap, and the value of the irons ability to flight the ball is 10 times greater than stock swing results. Maybe it's the advent of data and golfers trying to get to ideal numbers, modern teaching of it's all about turning (not using the hands), technology boosting the ball in the air, but it is crazy to me how poor really good golfers are at controlling ball flight. I played Arcos for 3 round and then returned it, without pre-defining the ball flight the data is poor. I will use my 8 iron at 135y to flight the ball below the tree line (35 feet high, with low spin) or hit it 157y (115 feet high with high spin). So the equation is different for me, adding 10-20ft of height for Mid flight only works if it's not adding 10-20 ft. to my low flight. Most of the guys I play with out drive me and I'm 1 to 1.5 clubs shorter, but almost none of them can control the ball flight well and they pay for it. How high or low flight is, is just as important as carry distance. I would like to see more advanced data that utilize more than one ball flight. Meaning what is the optimal low flight height (40ft?), mid flight height (90ft?), and high flight (110ft?). I believe that would start to expose how in some cases the how the new technology may be good at one flight but it poor at another flight. Either way I love the channel and the breakdown of technology, what manufactures are trying to achieve, as well as your agnostic mindset. Be well and play well.

  8. I find it so interesting that Mike has unconsciously adopted many of Ian’s verbal mannerisms. Yeah yeah yeah, 100 percent!

  9. I’m playing Apex cf-19. I bought two other sets this year. Struggling with turf interaction. Made some big swing changes.
I am looking at t150- t200- and apex pro. I have hit titleist but not the callaway yet. I love the old apex pros. My only concern is what to play with apex bro in the 5 iron.
I’ll get fit in a few weeks. But excited to get my new clubs and take a break.

  10. Would love to see Mikey in the Titleists with his Modus shafts at -.25" instead of the AMTs at -.5".

  11. The difference comes down to a faster trampoline face vs. the blades. The shorter club probably nets more control of strike, and the "stronger lofts" are a necessity because the club shaft deflects more because of the lower CG – look at delivered loft in the test. The low CG is adding loft in the swing, hence the lower static loft to begin with. 4000 spin in a 5 iron is starting to show the limits of his swing speed vs CG and shft deflection, what does the 3 iron spin at? Extra trajectory is nice but 7w or 4H may be a better solution – although not all golfers like thos clubs…

  12. So I was just fit into T100 with AMT White x100 coming from Mizuno 223 in DG 120 X100. Makes sense I would hit the 7i great as they are pretty much the same. My question is what should I expect in longer irons with the reduced weight and not being able to actually try them before buying?

  13. Would love to see Angle of Descent data during these sessions given what Ian has taught us about it's importance in a fit. Otherwise top drawer as always!

  14. Tried these yesterday. Love the feel of the t100 but didn't love the 150's at all. Honestly for some reason i found the t150 less forgiving feeling (shrug)

  15. I dont have any issues with height and stopping power, if anything I want to bring my flight down a little. Currently play MC-501 w C-taper 130x… Was looking at doing a T100 / T150 Combo as my dispersion suffers a bit at the 5 and 4 iron. Is this the right route to go?

  16. Another top video guys. How about considering the Axioms Mikey? I’m a long time Steelfiber user and graphite is the way to go in my books.

  17. Hold up! Can I just mention how well Mikey is hitting these, and just how many tap ins there were even with the 5 irons – and blades no less. Fair play Mikey! Lovely set of shots for comparison. 🙌
