  1. I agree with Player to a certain extent but the average weekend golfer is not playing on the same kind of manicured turf the pros play on. If you can use your putter, you should use it but not if it means rolling the ball through a bunch of sloppy turf.

  2. I agree . Gary is the man. But to be fair, he’s putting on a DP world tour links style course. I live near Torrey Pines. It’s got tones of that Kikuyu grass. You can’t putt it.
Plus pros and low handicappers know that extra spin from a wedge=control of the ball. You don’t control a ball that stays on the ground for a very long time. What’s easier an uphill or down hill putt? The one that stops quicker is easier. So learn how to hit a wedge.

  3. only with high bounce wedges, vokey's are shat. i can flop a shot off the car park with a 1990's cobra trusty rusty.

  4. this tip is for “chops”….I know Mr. Player ,I was a pro caddie for a long time ….he Can be Very Overbearing and arrogant ….maybe he got “picked on” from to Many’s mates in south Africa when he was young🤷🏼‍♂️🎤

  5. Well sir, if I’m hitting off hard pan, I use my 56 degree with 12 bounce and the bounce is the key to getting soft loft so to speak. My instructor told me it’s a key skill to learn how to hit wedge shots off hard pan and firm ground.

  6. Put a 25 footer in the hole with a lie 5 feet outside of the fringe. I would have properly f**&ked the chip and run from there.
    +1 Texas Wedge

  7. The average weekend golfer also doesn’t practice putting from that far off the green. I watch so many people try to putt that and they don’t even come close to two putting

  8. Hybrid is massively overlooked in these situations

People want to chip around the greens which has massive randomness for the average/poor golfer

So easy to fat, thin, skull it over the back 9f the green

Just use a putting stroke with your hybrid. You'll never fat/thin. The club is built so you can't.

Onky thing you need to learn is distance control just like a putter

Literally knocked 6-8 strokes a round off my score since I ditched the chip shots and started using a hybrid

  9. I’ve always done this! I hate chipping and I just feel like I have so much more control with the putter

  10. I love Gary but I also hate seeing so many people putt from way off the green with not so great results. You have to learn to control the bounce on your wedges or learn a chip putt type shot.
