Watch the spoiler-free, full competition of BMX Flatland at X Games Japan 2023!

How medal event is judged:
Head to head, 8-person competition in bracketed “battle-style” format.

The 120 second countdown clock begins as the first athlete attempts their trick. Athletes can stop their 120 second clock after they complete a trick/combination of tricks (or miss) by raising their hand, at which point the other competing athlete then attempts their trick/combination of tricks and their 120 second clock begins. This process continues back and forth until 120 seconds have expired for both athletes and the judges declare a winner of the battle.

  1. Whoever is in charge of the timer NEEDS TO BE FIRED!! You screwed over almost every rider… SHAME ON JAPAN!!

  2. Huh? 😅😅😅 I wouldn’t even know how to begin to learn one of the tricks. This is beyond human level 🤦🏾‍♂️

  3. Man I missed flatland as a teenager in the 80’s I lived the beginnings of all freestyle bmx I loved street but spent most evenings on the street in front of my house riding and perfecting flatland tricks imitating R.L. Osbourne and Mike Buff for hours and hours. I’m 54 now and Dennis McCoy was my idol growing up in fact I still have my 1985 Haro Master and still ride it

  4. The bike flip reminds me of the first attempts at the motorcycle backflip…

    Great performance from everyone!

  5. wait… if they decyde by 1 or 2 is winner.. instead of scores.. it could be that people win that performed worse. See when an failed run would score 60 and a " meh ok run " scored 65 this one would go against the winner from the other match.. if dude that previously scored 99 all the matches fails in the last round against the dude thas was lucky with just an " 66 meh score " .. idk.

Why is here roundbased and in other bmx sports score based ?

  6. And none of these assholes give credit to the KING Kevin Jones, who made modern-day flatland possible!!!!!!!!!! now they all look like spinning jipsy!!

  7. You would have to watch these guys runs like 100,000 times to understand the difficulty of everything thing they're all doing.

  8. So cool. These guys are way better than i was at that age. and so many good riders. It would have been so cool if all these guys went street riding together after the contest

  9. Uchino should’ve won the first round of the video he did such more technical tricks and the other dude did the same thing pretty much over and over

  10. When i rode i always had a dream of combining street and flatland together. Flat is So much more interesting than Park to me, despite the major skill levels, it just leaves me cold.
