Eeryone can shut up about the LIV now. The PGA and DP are now part of it. Sold out for 1 Billion dollars plus. Now, they all get "Blood Money." One thing i I do disagree with Jack on. The Loyal PGA/DP players are the ones who are making a fortune or made a fortune. They get pampered by the PGA and DP. I work tourneys and see how they get specail treatments. I wonder how many lesser players would had jumped for the guarenteed money? Do people know how it cost players to even try to get a card? It is a lot of personal amd family scarifice. The PGA doesn't help them at all.
If Jack played for love and not money, then why did he and Arnie demand "appearance fees"…….come on Jack.

No PGA players are speaking against LIV now – when LIV has tru an investor role – in a way is now the owner of the PGA. When people get old like Jack is now – it is best just to remain gracious and accept what people start saying in their old age. Great article , Jack was by far the best player ever. Every player should be allowed to ply where they want to, why do they have to cower down to one PGA golf run by Jacks golfing Mafia… Gary Player if he was 30 years younger would have had no problems going over to LIV golf as money is the only thing he has ever been interested in… Good luck to the players who have already gone over to this new institution.. Its amazing how Monaham has change the Prize money to try to counteract the enormous money at LIV, why didnt they do this earlier as they have been ripping off the players for years.. One has to just wonder how much Monaham was given to make the deal with LIV golf.. Being a great golf lover lets hope this all works out for all, but remember money is the only thing that keeps us people going in this world.
Jack is no different than Tiger. Both of their lives are the PGA in their professional lives they have nothing else. If the PGA goes away or becomes a lesser tour then their legacy means nothing.

PGA has taken full control over Golf again and has given PIF a role (a seat at the table for a large financial input) BUT.. all that said …it’s not a merger .. LIV is still around .. Greg Norman is out .. and it’s up to Monahan to decide what role LIV will play in the future. Sounds like a massive win for the game of Golf and the developmental tours.

Jack is so old that he forgot he tried to start his own tour in the 1980’s. Only difference is, Jack was told no by the PGA, and he listened. Hilariously, everything the players moved to LIV for, things like teams, designated tournaments, and Tiger’s/Rory’s own tour that has no cuts and 6 man teams. Phil M was right all along. Btw, LIV is far more exciting than the PGA excepting the majors, the Players, and the Ryder/President’s cups. That LIV players play, and WIN (Brooks PGA 2023) indicates that all the best players are NOT just in the PGA. Jack, perhaps you should stop taking the $100 million to be the architect of a course in Saudi Arabia.
I know athletes of all sorts play their game for the love of the game. But, money is also a big part of the equation. And, in most cases, the money available has to be earned in a relatively short time. There are few if any sports where anyone can expect a 20, 30, 40 or 50 year career. Most seem to be under 10.
As far as the "Greats" of golf go, I believe that Ben Hogan (Please correct me if I've got the wrong guy.) said he played golf so that he could afford to go hunting and fishing.
Why so much hate on the LIV tour ? The USA 🇺🇸 government does billions of dollars with the Saudi government for decades with far less criticism … so don’t support them with weapons for oil

Well constructed piece. Jack was my hero but has a very short memory. He helped lead the players to break away from the PGA of America. He thinks that so called independent contractors are not free to chose their affiliations. He forgets his previous positions much like Trump who he supported. How many of his course constructions have gone bankrupt because of his exorbitant fees? He was a great golfer and has done a lot of charitable good works but does not apply his Morales to others.

i think these guys should make their money while they're young no matter where it comes from and the saudis seem to have deep pockets and some kind of love for the game or the business of it. i don't watch much golf anymore on tv except for the majors a bit and would not spend time attending in person. if i'm spending time at a golf course i would be playing not watching but that's me.
