Would a Melbourne based club want Buddy?
Just say it Kane, your in Love with Dan Houston !!😂
Tom Hawkins will play 400+
Tom Hawkins will definitely go again. He's not like a Buddy where he's costing alot in terms of salary cap and is still showing how good he is up front I'd say why not?
Carey on 1mill 25years ago!!! 4.5mill salary cap. Look at King's face. No wonder i was getting peanuts. lol
midfielders have the most influence on the game though
One of my umpire mates has a heavy bet on the brownlow 😅
Am I seeing things Sloane has done well just give him a year on peanuts😂
A midfielder will never win the Coleman Medal..
Pick 3 as compensation for McKay is just crazy, the bloke looks like he should be playing reserve grade. Almost makes Hawthorn getting pick 19 for Buddy even more ridiculous. Would be nice if the AFL released the compensation formula as well
26:23 I say the same thing about Will Hoskin-Elliott
What is Kane on? No non-midfielder has had a good enough season to win the Brownlow since Tredrea/Riewoldt in 2004.
Generally the most valuable player in the competition is a midfielder but in some instances it has not been. For example, Buddy Franklin has had seasons where he is arguably the most valuable commodity in the competition yet has not polled near the top of the Brownlow. So I agree with Kane in that the Brownlow is really a midfielder award rather than an award for the most valuable player.
The rivalry between the Crows & Power is huge. The hatred across the board between especially the old supporters is massive. They despise each other…
I don't think cox is in collingwoods best 22 but am surprised kane said it since earlier this year he said that cox should never play in the vfl again😂
Hawkins should definitely retire so he can spend more time with his boyfriend.
Kane Cornes is a great Devil's Advocate. He's made a motza out of it lol
Wonder what they think for Shannon Hurn. He’s 36 and still playing on.
Wayne Carey was the most influential player of that era & arguably in my lifetime. I'm not a Crows or Roos fan & I don't like Carey so it's not bias. I started watching when Nicholls was Carlton's ruckman.
West coast and North got themselves into a hole one by continually signing injury prone players between the ages of 28-33 that have hardly managed to put together a whole season and the other has sacked 2 head coaches in 2 seasons north got Wardlaw and sheezel last year why do they deserve another handout… bad enough the draft has been compromised since gws and gold Coast have acsess to academy players outside the top 40 picks…
A good show guys
I just want to say that in January I moved to Barcelona and just got back 6 months later and Kane Cornes is still complaining
Kingy picked Cornes’ argument to pieces about the value of midfielders. The more Cornes talks the less credibility he shows.
There should be no priority picks ! Clubs are where they by their own doing so why reward them for failure ? I go for the Eagles and as bad as we are going now it is up to us to rectify the issues and get back on tract !
If North are that bad on the field and on the books maybe a merge with Tassi isn't such a bad idea .
I don't think it's anyone's place to suggest when someone should retire. It is their life and their choice, not ours!
Hey Cornes, learn your stuff mate because Goodes won the Brownlow in 03 and 06
Kane been trying kick mason cox out of the AFL for years…..
People are not listening
1 Help Adelaide make finals
2 Help Carlton make finals
3 Help Essendon to win a final
4 Help freo win flag no longer than next year
5 Help Gold Coast make finals
6 Help gws win premiership no longer than 2025
7 Help North Melbourne make finals next year
8 Help Saints win premiership
The Brownlow should be marked out of 10 for each game. Get one field umpire and two neutral judges in the stands to vote.
Take all the picks in the world away from Hawthorn, they've got the best coach in the league. If he had Collingwood or Carltons list he'd have won a fucking flag already… or at least got a finals win. 🤐
Did Cornes mention Boak?
Pies should have learned about excessive player payments with Brody Grundy, who got shafted.
I'm not a Kanga's fan, but jeez, they definitely need a priority pick.. Every team has had them in the past, so nobody can complain
No player is worth 2 million, I just went through each club off my head and I would have 20 players before Daicos, there is 4 players in his own team I would have before him.
Pendlebury not being in this conversation just shows how much of a fkn legend he is!
North shouldn’t be able to get Saunders pre draft just coz he’s an academy player otherwise every other club will be asking to pre draft academy players
Agree with Kane on the $2m. As good as Daicos is, for me the success model is based on player output > salary and getting good players to accept unders and accept a lifestyle change or promise of success. Hawthorn in their 3-peat era did it and Geelong is the best example more recently. Daicos is probably on well less than $1m now and producing a $1m output, so heck that's part of why Collingwood are so good right now. And the element of at least a bit of greed / envy on a guy making huge $$ in a salary cap environment will come up abs result in resentment, thats just human nature and is toxic for success. I get you need to keep him at the club but $1.2M now and $1.4-$1.5M by 2030 would be the cap for my view..
Brownlow medal is the Most Valuable player in the league.
If we went through the best player in each side and their influence on winning the game .
Wayne Carey never won a Brownlow . And despite thoughts on him good or bad he is one a the greatest to play the game.
That year he got his team to a prelim and Paul Kelly’s swans came 12th .
Richo came very close also .
Best and fairest is also a phrase we need to work with for awarding.
Mckernan missed on a technical point missed the Brownlow. But won on votes
Bartlett missed two chances but was clearly the most influential.
Let’s do MVP and allow a blemish to determine eligibility.
As a bombers fan I think Daicos could have won off half back only this year. But he is an incredible player and his midfield work is superb.
Midfielders are “first hands” but influence is why Darcy Moore might win a Brownlow if they open their mind across the field.
Most influential player ?
The player that lifts their team to a position that without them is impossible.
Future Brownlow not mids
Cameron
Moore
Gawn
Naughton
Sam Taylor
Sicily
Greene
Hawkins could play another 2 years its not like he would get any smaller or weaker ,he takes the opposition 2nd best defender if not the best defender ,he could still kick 50 to 60 goals in 2025
there is a reason midfielders win every award, generally across all teams in the history of the AFL the best player in the team is a midfielder, with the exception being the really great Centre half forward and full forwards in ablett/carey/dunstall/lockett/buddy etc most teams most influential player is a mid. Just look at the 18 teams now, apart from jeremy cameron, toby greene and charlie curnow, plus oscar allen who wouldnt even be top 20 in the comp, what other teams best player isnt a mid?
Lobb back in makes zero sense
Generally speaking, the mid-fielder is the best player in the team.
Daicos is the number one bruise-free player in the league
Reid lives 250km from Melbourne. Its not exactly "staying in Melbourne" if he plays for North.
"West Coast have been poor for 3 years". Cornes keeps extending the timeframe. 2021 was 9th. 2020 5th 2019 5th 2018 premiership. 2023 hasn't finished yet. How can he argue then that they were poor in 2021 if they missed the finals by one game during Covid?
That is manufactured Showdown BS from Ryan Burton – I know you love the club you play for, but he was a passionate Crows fan until the day Hawthorn drafted hm, so I doubt he hates the club.
I think there is real rivalry between supporters and clubs in Adelaide. But in WA, both clubs are owned by the same entity. People in WA are just more laid back. Must be the beautiful weather, open space etc… we're just a bit more chilled about life.
If Kangas get all that… It's a joke! just fold them
They should add Kane Cornes to that list he's completely washed
