  1. love learning boxing knowledge teddy. pls bring back what if fights. example lennox lewis vs riddick bowe. or clarisa sheild vs layla ali

  2. Thank you gentlemen, for making this piece of history for us. As a die hard boxing fan and history buff approaching 50 years old, this was a treat. I've always been intrigued and fascinated by the unique characters in boxing…from Bert Sugar to Izenberg to Larry Merchant, Lou Duva, etc. etc. Only in boxing can men like this exist.

  3. Great show i grew up on Staten Island in the 40's and 50's, great fights were free on TV, my father and uncles smoke and beer, i can still smell the humanity

  4. My grandpa served at the Inchon landing, passed away last week. Was nice seeing the Forgotten War be talked about here

  5. Cool stories, I believe the fight he talks about at 56:00 it's the fight between Alfonso Frazer and Niccolino Locche, always fun to learn this stories.

  6. This is an absolute delight. You don't get that kind of history without hearing it from elders who experienced it. Listening to Joe Louis fights on the radio. Interviewing and being around Muhammad Ali. All amazing stuff. Jerry Izenberg is a treasure. Please, more interviews and conversations like this!

  7. This guys stance on general MacArthur is completely wrong and based on nothing but emotions. Declassified material shows he kept pushing north because he knew china was involved and were finding Chinese planes shot down.

  8. Thank you very much, Jerry is a treasure trove of information and great stories, not just about boxing, but life.

Teddy has so much knowledge as well. All the best to Ken on that epic Mongolian desert race.

Nice notes on great fighters. Joe Louis was so accurate and well balanced, superb fighter.

  9. love hearing old timer stories. would love to hear his thoughts on modern fighters too who hes into…. also maybe a quick 10 min towards fights of the week like cannonier and petrioni or whatever the guys name was… both landed some solid shots. just giving u guys future ideas to keep show what we expect but lets u be able to talk to the old timers about the sports history but keep in touch with the modern fighters… teddy whats ur thoughts on the vidall riley k o?

  10. also a quick mention of the petition wud be nice.. keep promoting it.. people like oh i need to sign up then get busy and forget… promote it teddy we are for overwight to end corruptuion

  11. Man I wanted to see you talk about the Reigus Prograis fight… wanted to see if you guys could be objective.
Ohh and Teddy, you are not the voice of Combat sports maybe boxing, but but all combat sports.

  12. Disappointing Teddy you didn't cover the fights in Australia this weekend. Some fights of consequence and amazing action but it seems the interest is only in USA and to a lesser extent UK boxing and not much else. Love your channel would just love to see you broaden your coverage of boxing.

  13. This is just wonderful; it is incredible how sports has meaning outside its own realm and the interesting people who took part of this history had the most captivating stories that movies can try to emulate but always fall short. Thank you for this, wish it was longer.

  14. Imagine going to a family get together and finding a guy like Jerry on your table. I'd ignore everyone and just talk boxing for hours with the vino flowing!

  15. Please bring this man back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. Thanks for describing the pressure Joe Louis had to endure fighting Schmeling. To go to bat for Schmeling, he was married to a Czech actress he was loyal to even though the Nazi party wanted him to get a divorce. Schmeling also had a Jewish promoter he refused to fire, a man who held up a cigar after a fight in Germany while Schmeling and his team were extending the right arm. The photo caused a scandal in Germany at that time. And one can imagine the pressure Schmeling had to deal with fighting against Joe Louis, a black opponent Hitler and the Nazis expected him to dominate.

  18. Great show. Wealth of boxing history! Loved reading him in Newark Star Ledger and New York Post! Learned something I never knew about Joe Bugner. Joe Louis, Frankie Carbo, Duran, Arcel, Freddy Brown, Robinson …. Great podcast and great interview by Teddy picking his memories. Fascinating! Kudos to Ken for letting the interview flow with Teddy and Jerry.

  19. Great episode. We’re lucky to have Jerry around still for stories like these. I’ll get the book. Maybe consider having him on several more times while we can he was great and he seemed to enjoy it too.

  20. I'm almost 50 years old but when I grow up I want to be just like Jerry. He's in great condition for 92, sharp as a razor.

  21. Oh man. So great to see the legendary Jerry still so sharp! Love it.

Side note: Ken, wtf are you doing asking about the war, man? Cmon. Have some tact.

  22. Very good point on Louis being witty and intelligent.
My favorite quote from him was when he was asked why he didn't knock out a driver who was yelling insults at him after a collision.
Louis replied: "Why should I? When someone insulted Caruso, did he sing an aria for him?"
