Great Video Matt. Would have loved to take part but was working the Tuesday you were filming 🙄 it just shows that so many people i bet play with clubs which aren't suited to them. It pays to get fitted by a pro!
The first guy Steve hit some great consistant drives.
Bloody hell the secon guy has a massive swing awesome
Wow thes all hit it well
Most of us would never think the shaft matters. But in reality it does. But my question is unless I'm a scratch or better does it make that much of a difference? If it money it don't. But to me you opened my eyes just enough for me to possibly getting fitted thanks Matt. My wife won't like this. I guess I'll have to by her something that she won't complain about me. 😂
Great video Matt. Were you looking purely at distance when recommending what shaft each of these guys should be using or dispersion as well?
I know 4/5 we’re playing the ‘wrong’ shaft, but they all hit decent shots with every shaft, and the fact they couldn’t actually tell what was what to me suggests it’s actually not as important as you think.
If shaft made that much difference surely you could tell what one was what?
Great experiment and fascinating results. Would love to see more content like this.
This was the perfect amount of nerdiness for me. I was instantly invested.
You should play Sam over 18, I'd watch that!! Great video 👍
Would have been more interesting if You (Matt) also participated.
I won't claim to be the world's leading expert but as a fitter I love playing this game with clients 😂😂😂
I have regular flex in my irons and stiff in driver and fairway woods. My (possibly silly) theory is that with the irons I want more control and repeatability so will swing softer and with the woods I’ll be looking for distance and swinging harder. I’ve noticed the unnerving whippy feeling with woods with a regular shaft but never with the irons. Maybe that’s just silly but until I eventually go and have a fitting, that’s how I’m doing it.
Caleb has a John Daly-esque swing. Massive backswing.
It's really amazing the difference shafts make. I did a fitting at Club Champion, went in thinking I'd need light, bendy shafts, and came out with stiff 75 gram shafts that WAY outperformed everything else I tried. GET FIT!!
As always, really interesting video. Spellchecker on the title wouldn't go amiss though
Wow! Very interesting. I've had fittings before and just had a regular shaft fitted. I don't even recall being offered anything else. I don't want a new driver, but it might be worth having a fitting just for a shaft.
Hi Matt. It was me at High Legh on Saturday listening to your sweet ball striking
I got fitted for irons at Scottsdale and ends up with graphite which have given me more height and distance Was not expecting graphite to be the answer
Also as a 60 year old, hoping they will see me through to 65
Spelling is almost as amateur as the golfers….
Interesting vid though. Not sure quite what to make of the outcome.
Maybe that ams worry too much about kit and not enough about technique?
Very interesting, just shows that most people don't know what shaft they have or what shaft suits their swing. Definitely need to get fitted for the right shaft, especially when paying so much for clubs. Great idea, Matt.
This must be the LEAST amount of charisma I've ever seen in a YouTube video lol!
Very nice ! Swing speed would have been a nice addition to the stat you showed. The same experiment with irons will be lovely !
Very interesting
This is a great video! It shows how important getting fit for the right shaft is, especially for driver. Well done, Matt.
*Amateurs.
Naughty Matt, for cutting off the most of distances so we couldn't see them!
Would like a conclusion on you as to whether people's distance/miss pattern was as expected.
I've always thought that stiffness was less about swing speed, and more about swing torque. You want to be having the club snap back forward in the hitting zone. Low torque swings with little twist, and it doesn't make much difference. And then you have shafts like the Aldila Ascent, which have a stiffer and heavier tip, designed to reduce head twist, but deliver from mid shaft. I've found they have less hook snap for me.
Very interesting film well done Matt
Jesus, that man in black sure winds up awfully hard to get 213 carry…..
Calib looks like Buzz from home alone😂😂😂
Mind the variance for a sample of three shots…
It would be interesting to know the difference in distance between all 5 shafts for all the participants. 👍
Great intuitive video Matt. Shows the importance of a driver fitting!
