You guys would fall for anything. It's all bullshit nonsense to cover up a money grab from the Saudis. Nearly everyone except perhaps DJ was either a journeyman/has been or a player not well-liked on tour. So long as Tiger, Rory and the other top players held fast then LIV would have burned itself out in a year or two. You guys are now part of the sportswashing.
So a foreign government with near unlimited funds decides to enter a sport and use their money to destroy the market leader. The market leader admits that they cannot compete with foreign government because they are acting in a uneconomic way with no business logic to destroy the market leader.
Are government’s (it’s not just the USA but European, UK and Asia regulators) going to allow a foreign government to act in such a way and take over a sport. Ultimately this deal will not go through in the form described – governments will block it.
Why would it be 'pie in the sky stuff' for Rory & Tiger to each own a LIV team and compete. That is exactly what DJ, Brookes, Cam Smith, Bryson etc do at the moment. Tiger and Rory taking on additional teams within LIV Golf would say a whole lot more about them personally than anything else. After all the vitriol and petty comments about LIV that have come from these two (Rory moreso) then it would really show what sort of people they are if they were to take on teams. Though to be fair were all those comments from Rory simply drafted by JAY and the PGA tour for him to say? I think these hearings are all for the theatre of it. I believe the deal will go ahead – but given PIF is the funding source – they are now in the drivers seat. I think LIV golf will continue as will Greg Norman. To the victors go the spoils. If it doesn't go ahead – LIV continues as is and you have already heard from the PGA tour that they will just be unable to compete. You just need to stop being PGA shills and thinking that the PGA tour really have any say in all of this

The Saudi's (through PIF) planned this ahead of time. They invented LIV (and paid Norman and the players handsomely) to disrupt the PGA Tour. Then they bought it! Not the first successful sport they've bought into btw!

This feels like they are trying to make excuses for Monahan and justifying the horrific way he handled this. The PGA Tour did this to themselves by drawing the line in the sand instead of just allowing the players to do both if they want. The fact that the PGA Tour players are independent contractors makes it just ridiculous what Monahan did. Drawing a line in the sand when you can't compete financially with the competition is not going to end well. LIV wouldn't have survived much longer, regardless of how much money the saudi's have, they didn't became as rich as they are by being dumb and making bad investments. The PGA Tour stabbing the players that stood with them right in the back which is what I find the most troubling.
