I seriously doubt Z got a $130M offer, it was probably more like $30M in cash and 10% equity in a LIV franchise using a "$1B" valuation Under that context the Hideki offer makes sense too. $100M in cash and 25% equity in a LIV franchise Tiger offer was probably something on the order of $250M in cash and 51% controlling interest in a LIV franchise Looks like LIV dodged a bullet with all 3 (LOL)
Less is more at the echelons of golf. The best players have always had limited schedules and were selective where they played. The PGA tour is manipulating players into this scheme to burn them out and make them less relevant in the majors. If the players on the PGA tour continue to value majors over a PGA tour event eventually this will be the demise of the tour.
Anyone turning down $130M in sport where form is temporary, your body is all you have, and younger players just keep getting better as all you do is get older, needs a really good reason. Not 'In the name of integrity and honor' – that is lame. Why work your entire life sacrificing days of your childhood, to not be rewarded handsomely for your efforts?
