So they're blaming Kyrie for the Mavs falling out of 4th place but never add context 🤔
They gave up a lot of their defense trading for Kyrie but never mentioned this to the audience on every Mavs/KYRIE topic.
What's sad is that Chris Broussard knows this but spews the same narrative. 😔👎🏾
The Mavs lost games at the end because of the defense they gave up for Kyrie. To be honest, the minute we got Kyrie, Cuban went to tank mode! He was already thinking about this offseason! A lot of analysts act like we didn’t make the playoffs because Kyrie played horrible or something. He was ballin. We just couldn’t stop anybody!
The Mavs have had a really good offseason and we aren’t done yet. Talking heads keep acting like we are a mediocre team. I think if we got a rim protector, we are just as good as Miami would be with Lillard! Stay tuned!
Nick, I DETEST YOU AND YOUR TASTE. First, hate Jordan because he is superior to Lebron, and second, you hate Kyrie because if he hadn't made the game-winning shot, Lebron would never have engaged in the goat debate with MJ. NBA should add a new criteria for Max contracts. A player should have a championship ring to be eligible for a max contract.
It’s crazy how they blame kyrie for everything it’s not his fault if they team can’t get rebounds or protect the paint and Luka has to play off ball more and with pace and they’ll be good so blaming kyrie isn’t valid he can be your number 2 the number 1 just has to be a number one and lead on the court

I take the current Mavs roster in the reg season over the Warriors/Kings, on par with the Lakers/Grizzlies, behind the Nuggets/Suns (if they can say healthy)
Not to mention that Dallas had basically no wing depth last season after the Kyrie trade. Our offense was Top 5 after the trade, but freaking Bullock and Green had to play PF…
So we adressed our needs this offseason. Lively/Holmes/Grant/Omax… all defensive upgrades over the guys they will replace. We still have Maxi, who hopefully can stay healthy in a smaller role, Green as a plus defender and Exum for spot minutes who are ok to good defender.
Dallas had a Top10 offense overall last season (top 5 after the Kyrie trade), but a bottom 5 defense. If we can at least be average on defense, we are more then fine. And I do not see why this shouldnt be possible.
Its not about winning a championship right now this season. Its about building a contender for the forseable future. And with Luka/Williams/Green/Hardy/Lively/O-Max we have a great young core (all under 25) with lots of upside, whle being a Playoff team at the same time.
Not ro mention that we still have assets to upgrade the Center position…

Is no one going to mention they trade an unprotected 2030first round swap with San Antonio for a slight upgrade at the 3. The Mavs will likely be very bad then and San Antonio may likely be a contender

i hate nick but the mavs were hurt… luka was playing with 1 leg and kyrie is dealing with foot injuries… i know it sounds like an excuse but to have no defense and your 2 best players are hurt… you aint making the playoffs that way… NOW they added some defense so they can somehow win games thru stops and not having to rely on their stars every night which is a good thing

Dallas likes Small Ball, and moving Grant WIlliams to the 5 is possible in some scenarios like against the Warriors. Good luck stopping Luka, Kai, Hardy, THJ and Grant Williams in a lineup to close out a game.
