Had the R1 back brand new. If fact I have 2 as back clubs. One of the best drivers I've ever had. Will take the R1 over any of the last several TM drivers. Seen to many broken driver faces.
I loved the R1 black version. 10 gram weight in the heel. Hit it great for 3-4 years.
Let's see how "The Natural Ball Striker" hits it. Or let's see a Modelo match using that club off the tee😂

I have one as the backup driver. I actually hit it pretty well, but it definitely performed better when I put in a high launch high spin shaft it.
I had that driver when i started playing again 2yrs ago. I couldnt get it into the air at all so i got and now use the Ping g30 and my Dad using the taylormade and he loves it.
Surely the SLDR was even less forgiving! They have made some good drivers since!
I’ve never tried it. I had a R 11 at that time when that driver came out and I was hitting the R 11 so good I didn’t even think about trying it. It looks like it was garbage Anyway glad to see you and your mate having fun with an old driver.

OMG I have the black version of this driver. Been thinking about a new driver for the longest time because I just don’t hit it consistently enough. Thought it was me. Honestly been looking for videos comparing it to newer drivers but they’re really hard to find. Can’t believe you made this video!! I’m definitely looking for a new driver now.

I had this driver for almost 8 years. With a Matrix Black Tie shaft. Absolutely loved it. Switched to the SIM2 a couple years ago. Still struggling with consistency since then.

I had an R1 and agree it wasnt overly forgiving. I dont believe it was low spin however. I later got an R15 430 TP that was low spin. The R1 was ok, not the worst driver i have ever owned that accolade is a toss up between a Ping ISI or Titliest 975J both were pants.
Got one for my Birthday and the shaft snapped after 5 days. Was slicing every shot before too. Got a full refund and bought a Titleist 915 D3, I thought I was just bad at driving!

This might explain why I struggle with driver. New to golf 3 years ago and got thus on eBay. Guess it's time for a proper fitting (which is what I was planning for this year amyways).

I have one that I bought for €50 for my son. I got custom fitted last year and paid a fortune for a Stealth. I got retested and nothing new came within 10 yards.
Hit some of my longest drives ever with the R1,but if my swing was off just slightly big lefts and rights.
