Lance, JB, and George break down the opening stage of the 2023 Tour de France, which started off with a bang and saw Adam and Simon Yates make history by upsetting the pre-stage favorites and going 1-2 on the stage. The win, which put Adam Yates in the first Yellow Jersey of the 2023 edition, signaled that he and his UAE teammate, Tadej Pogačar, came into this race ready to take the race to the defending champion Jonas Vingegaard and his strong Jumbo-Visma squad.

The crew also discusses how the day saw two GC hopes of two pre-race contenders, Enric Mas, and Richard Carapaz, go up in flames due to ill-timed crashes late in the stage, who the remaining top overall podium contenders are, and how Mark Cavendish looked strong despite the challenging parcours, before previewing tomorrow’s stage 2.

  1. I always enjoy your stage summations, this one too.

    One piece of advice:

You do tend to be very GC focused, and pretty much ignore the battles for green, polkadots and white, although white we can skip this year too, as long as Pogacar is there 😉

Would be cool if you talked more on the other competitions, like or instance the intermediate sprint today showing us who is really going for green, and who is not… and realising that those candidates for green that showed their cards today, will have to spend a lot of time either in breaks, or with their teams denying breaks, to hit intermediate sprints, on a very lumpy Tour route. – You probably can't win green solely on bunch sprints this year.

It can shape a good part of how the Tour is raced.

  2. Without Spencer and especially Johan is this show completely useless. Do you guys have any information of any value?

  3. George, HAPPY 50th, now, it's all about patching up the boat…..! My 50th was a kick in the gut….. Hang in there brother, you've got ten years before your 60th…. 😁

  4. I am thrilled to be watching another Tour and delighted to hear the breakdown from the three of you. It’s going to be a great three weeks!

  5. Guys I was surprised that none of the Top 3 takeaways from yesterday mentioned Walt VA possibly leave the tour in week 2/3 for the birth of his kid! Big potential loss for Jumbo and will change the race – maybe the outcome?

  6. Here I think Lance is correct. Jumbo didn't try to close the gap to the Yates brothers. It was obvious in the effort. They are playing the long game.

  7. Just seven years, look how far this show has come. From the best garage band imaginable to Arena status. Nice work WEDU/MOVE, Johan, JB, George and oh yeah, Lance. Also all the great guests. Thks

  8. Jb, can you ask johan and the team who was the cofidis rider going with jonas and tadej? That was impressive.

  9. Could UAE be playing head games? Who will Jonas follow? If Adam Yates goes again and Pogi holds back, Yates could get a lot of time on Jonas, no?

  10. I'm really skeptical that Mas has a "broken scapula," as Movistar claims. He looked a lot more scared than actually injured. Jose should have been yelling at him to try and continue.

  11. The Move, La Movida and JB2. The perfect hat trick. Thank you Lance, Johan, George, JB for creating the best Cycling content out there!

  12. The Ketone thing is a bit misleading lads, you can’t simply take ketones and be in ketosis. As you know your diet impacts on wether you are able to switch from glucose to ketosis. Perhaps clarify for the listeners?

  13. Give a like if you think that Chris Horner deserves an invitation for one program in THE MOVE (Chris Horner in THE MOVE campaign) it would be epic!!😂❤🦋🇪🇦🇪🇦

  14. Armstrong is so clueless about present day cycling. You should think he would do a little research before podcasts or just follow cyckling in general. The only time he gets enthusiastic is when he talks about own experiences or talks about product sponsors.

  15. My favourite podcast , love it guys , always great to watch after days racing

  16. Too bad Brandon McNulty has taken a step away from grand tours, ( or at least the TDF).

  17. 😀 Good Stuff Guy's ❤ the Move, I definitely want that New Kit Lance was wearing while Mtb in Colorado ✌️

  18. At this point I give up on ever watching the Tour de France, I can't get the Peacock Network, 😮 I can't afford a DVR to record it.

  19. Jesus Christ half the show is advertisements …annoying. Love the show otherwise.

  20. 40 minutes show, 15-20m adds… luckily we get to fast forward that garbage. I’m usually ending up to finish the parts way under 20 minutes

  21. 1st time here on this channel. I got about 1 minute of relevant info among the whole duration of those lenghty advertisements. I get the importance of sponsors, but there is very little value here.

  22. I'm 20 minutes in and its mostly plugging sponsors products – there's got to be a better way because when they are actually talking about the race & riders its great

  23. Love you Guys!! Just one little wish from me is less in add during the pod. Will be watching every episode as same as 6 years ago. Love you again GOATS!!

  24. Duuudes. Funny. By the way, the bikes make Lance's ass look big, too. Just kidding. Great discussion, 7 years in and always fun to listen to. Thanks.
