Max Homa nails hole-in-one at Rocket Mortgage Classic
That was Homa’s second career ace on the PGA Tour — the first came a year ago at the 2022 Arnold Palmer Invitational when Homa tied for 17th alongside Jon Rahm and Aaron Wise. He hit five birdies Sunday prior to the hole-in-one and then sunk another birdie on the 17th hole.

Fowler has maintained a tiny lead over Morikawa and Hadwin (both one back). He’s 23 under with six holes left and playing alongside Hadwin. Morikawa is at 22 under but a hole ahead of Fowler, and on a course like this you definitely want more holes in hand than not. Both have two par 5s ahead (Nos. 14 and 17), though, and those should be a big factor in who holds the trophy.

“I missed every 7- to 12-footer of the week, so decided just to aim closer to the hole,” quipped Homa afterward. “It was like a perfect pitching wedge. It was like if it landed short, I thought it would skip forward. If it landed where it did, it should get close. I made a good swing on it … it’s cool to hear the roar, especially on that hole. That hole’s awesome.”

This ace is his second during his PGA Tour career, with his first coming during the third round at Bay Hill in the 2022 Arnold Palmer Invitational at the par-3 14th. However, this is the third ace on the par-3 15th here at the Detroit Country Club. Scott Brown made one in 2021 and Rory Sabbatini last year.
