3 simple steps to easy chipping technique
This chipping technique is so easy with 3 steps that are simple

Step 1 is use the bounce of the club to stop duffing your chip shots around the green.

The other simple tip is to raise your club so the heel is off the ground eve. You set up to a chip shot. Doing this increases the bounce and reduces the likelihood of hitting your chip shots fat.

Step 2 is the relax your arms at set up to help remove tension in your arms so we want to Hang them naturally

A bonus short game tip is not always chip with your sand wedge or lob wedge it increases your consistency and margin for error

Step 3 get the core through
Do not stop your body rotation. Too many bad chips shot are when the body stalls and the arms push or dig down or flip the wrists to cause thin shots.

Simple feel when chipping is to rotate through.

Hope you enjoyed those 3 simple steps for a chipping technique

  1. As always, beautiful in its simplicity. I so enjoy learning from you. Thanks for putting this up. I'm fairly happy with the way chipping has come along, 10K balls later, but i'm not 100 % on where the ball should come into contact with the club face. And more than that, how do i repeatedly create that wonderfully addictive click of affirmation, the wedge-gasm. Haha, Sorry, but thats what its like as an addict. Cheers!

  2. I have no idea, but your oddly similar to myself when looking and listening to the TaylorMade Tour fitter…

  3. Alex thank you!! After 51 years at the game I love and countless lessons you have helped me immensely! The putting and chipping video’s are perfect. I am curious as to you filming location as the surroundings look very much like the NE USA. Great work on these!!! Cheers from Buffalo NY!

  4. Fantastic tips. I’ve been working on improving my game around the green, and this is exactly what I needed. Thank you!

  5. This blew me away. My chipping was terrible. Overshooting, undershooting, running past the hole. I gained much more control over my shots. Thank you.

  6. I do better than average tee to green or near to green. I have a notoriously horrible short game. Ive said for years if I could get to where I have a bad short game I could save 10-12 shots…a round. Yes. That bad. I am guilty of most of the things you mentioned.Hope this helps. In fact, I have a set ot 10 year old wedges that Id sell. Sweet spots like brand new.

  7. I used this technique on the course twice now and it is very consistent out to about 60 yards with this same movement. Shave a few off for sure.

  8. 2:06 that sound had me looking all confused at my Discord trying to figure out who messaged me, lol. Please use a different sound next time if you need to use one.

  9. Thanks for the reminder on Step #1. I have been working again on chipping from a stance close to the ball, as you show here. If I stand too far away, I find that I can "duck" into the shot, to compensate, causing a dreaded chili dip!!

  10. I'm sorry, but I had a hard time following your video. I did manage to get through the entire video. My problem is that I'm a linear thinker so showing me the steps and the results of each etches it in my mind the best. Unforunately, from my point of view, you went off into so many tangents with each step that I had a hard time connecting the 1, 2, 3 that you were talking about. I was following you through the first step and then didn't understand why you didn't go ahead and demonstrate step one by hitting the ball. I'm sorry, but this was not an easy way for me to learn. Thank you.

  11. From that distance I putted 3-5 within 4 feet. Chipped 1-5 within 4 feet. Arnie said putt if you can when you can.

  12. you speak in a language i understand…..looking forward to trying thses tips and letting my chest come thru the shot the way you described

  13. If you raise the shaft so the heel is off the floor, don't you also need to close the face slightly to hit a straight shot?

  14. I prefer an 8 iron around the green unless I am making an attempt from long distance on a decent surface, then I will putt with my 5 hybrid.
