You can make the golf swing so much easier by using your hips correctly in the downswing. All great golfers have great lower body action and you can to by following these drills. 1. So defeated the entire lesson. I've never related more to a YouTuber. You spent hours and days trying to learn something to improve, and somehow you're hitting it worse than ever. Pain…

  2. Remember what Mike said, "if you dont hit the ground on the practice swing you arent ready to go".

Trying to scoop the ball will make thin shots, you need to hit the ground every time

  3. Your bag would probably be more comfortable if you raised the bottom towards the sky. It’s designed to sit more parallel to the ground. But whatever is comfortable for you.

  4. Jerome I think you are doing way to much buddy. Your gonna burn out if you keep going at the pace your setting yourself. You need rest for things to properly set in and let your body recover. you will also have mental fatigue from all the new info your cramming in. On top of that your filming and editing every day which is a full time job in itself. Every other Youtuber with a golf video is one vid a week. Give yourself a break.

  5. In your rehearsals you're dragging the handle again through impact. You need to let it release or else the club face will be wide open at impact. An open face will also affect your club path for the worse

  6. 41:00 wow — student misunderstood a key concept (what does wrist hinge mean?) during all those lessons, and coach is like … yeah, whatever.

  7. I always hear you saying your club twist in your hand. Something that helped me was making a question mark with my pointer finger so it sits more stable between the thumb and pointer finger. It feels like it just sits in a groove now and doesn't move around.

  8. To answer your question about whether it's your left or right arm that "lifts" the club up to the top from the takeaway. It's neither. Feel your chest rotate your arms to the top instead. Lifting your arms is a killer. Yes there is some but you don't want to lift it independently

  9. love these videos, keep up the good work, golf is a hard sport but you have a great golf teacher just stick with it and you will be rewarded.

  10. So funny to read all the advice in the comments. Jerome is training with a Hall-of-Fame coach every day; I think he’s in good shape on the advice front. 😉

  11. I saw the first 15 minutes, and Jerome if you respond or not I’m going to point out a few thing that some how the coach has not noticed…..
    – on your take away, you open the club face to early
    – your cocking your wrist to early
    – your still swinging with your arms
    – too much tension in your forearms
    – open club face possibly causing a flat swing at the top
    – your left shoulder seems like its hitting you chin causing you your head to turn right, maybe you loose focus on the ball, just a bit

  12. You always seem to me you have paralysis through analysis I know it’s easy to say relax than to actually ever get there-I know you are pushing content for viewers and we definitely appreciate that but sometimes you need a step away and let it come to you. Thanks for your journey!

  13. I feel you jerome.. about a month ago I was hitting the ball really well, shot a 94 for my first time breaking 100.. these past couple weeks I've been chunking, thinning, topping everything.. shot a 115 today and It's a terrible feeling to work to get better at something and have it all fall apart..

  14. I’m having so many flashbacks! I went/am going through this and I was trying to remember so many feels that my swing was different almost every time.
However about two weeks ago I only focused on one thing and it just made everything work and it’s the simplest thing to not only think about but it’s something I can easily verify during my practice swings.

And that was only focusing on the takeaway. Specifically when my club is parallel to the ground. When it’s at parallel my club should be at the same angle as my target line and the club face is at the 11 o’clock position. I get there by rotating my shoulders while, essentially keeping my arms perpendicular to my chest (as opposed to trying to get my lead arm across my chest).
Doing this one check not only made my swing super consistent (since now I’m not thinking too much) but my ball striking was money. It also automatically helped my rotation through my swing (whereas before I felt like I got stuck). My ball flight and aim were also on point and with my shorter clubs I was getting better distance. Add to that my swing now feels effortless.

This little change instantly helped me stop struggling with my irons where I was not only inconsistent with ball strikes but ball flight and path were all over the place. The chunking also went away. If I do happen to have a bad strike, the ball still goes straight.

The point is; some things can have a cascading affect on your swing and if you don’t figure out what the first thing in the chain is that is going wrong, you’ll be chasing your tail.

If you feel like you are swinging over the top see how your take away affects that. For me, a takeaway (again speaking only about the point at which the club is parallel to the ground) that behind the target line automatically causes me to swing over the top. When I tried a takeaway where the club was outside of the target line caused a more shallow swing.

  15. The high excitement in the intro, then the huffy puffy head down in the lesson.
Coach must have a lot of patience….

  16. Seems like you’re overthinking it and you’re out of it. Some time too much practice gets to you. Take some time off and do some other activities.

  17. Im a bit surprised that no one of the teachers have pointed out your extremely fast backswing (or i have missed it since i havent watched every video) and how badly it makes you to have everything out of sync.

You are close to John Rahm tempo but the diffrence is that your timings on transition is pretty bad at the moment. You are swinging so fast and hard with upper body that it is very hard to have consistent swing. You can do everything that fast if that is your tempo but it is extremely hard to learn right feelings when being so fast. With new players its allmost guaranteed way to learn bad habits.

What i would do is drills where you take backswing as slow as you can imagine. And next swing even slower. Take it up to half swing and then rip it. You will start to feel how everything starts from your legs and you upper body will get very relaxed during the drill. You will get the feeling that you dont have to swing hard from upper body and hands. They kind drop down towards ball while lower body is accelerating thru shot.

I would love to see an episode where your coach points this out and ypu really understand how big thing the right tempo is. You need to find your tempo. Now you have only one gear and its full speed. Back and forward 🙂

  18. Just relax brother, you just started. I have been playing for 40 years and I still stink !

  19. It's tough, because success in changing a swing might not result in good shots. That is not the feedback mechanism to judge your swing change. Seeing it change on video or other way to measure the swing is. Just trust the swing will produce better shots in the future. Basically, try to cut the link of poor ball flight or poor contact with swing changes. They are a lot of times not linked.

  20. This young man is mature way beyond his years. Intelligent articulate, self conscious and brave. I apologize Jerome for taking so long to subscribe.
    Thanks
