I bet you didn’t see this coming…but the questions is are we happy with these answers
Wrong. If the only reason you're on tour is that the best players in the world aren't… you need to get better or get the boot. Equality of opportunity, not equity. C'mon man.
It's all about money iv stoppet wotch golf .
Great job Alex isnt it interesting how PGA condemned LIV GOLF for taking Sadi money now about face again its all about the money SHOW ME THE MONEY and we will work together without Norman SHAME ON YOU cheers Len Mack Melb Aust
I see 3 signatures, who want to get rich. The players need to take control. Either be involved in the decision making. Or create a new tour. Don't be lazy. Get off your rear end, get involved. Don't think the 3 signatures will do you a favour. Wake up smell the coffee. This is your time.
Liv has always intended to the the "Team World Tour" With the best playing each other.
And its happening
I think team events should stay but they need to be associated with cities or something. It’s hard to get behind a “team” that doesn’t have a home. That’s why the Ryder Cup and Presidents cup are exciting. People are invested in “their” teams.
A team needs a home because a team based around a cult of personality can’t be around forever.
Think about the NY Yankees. They had Ruth, DiMaggio, Jackson, Jeter. All from different eras but all Yankees.
I can’t see the “Crushers” or “Range Goats” creating a legacy without a stable fan base.
But what do I know
All clear as mud the devil is in the detail.
LIV should stay, I find it more exciting to watch and it's creation has shook the golf tree and made the PGA Tour improve the product for their players.
PGA Tour had a monopoly and refused exemptions. I would love to see Rahm Tee it up at Valderrama even as a one off.
Will we get team events LIV v PGA tour v DP world tour or should we?
If I was one of the European LIV players I would not go back to DP world tour events without a change of leadership.
OWGR points deliberately blocked by some board members? if so then ranking needs to be independent and those blocking removed from OWGR board.
I think jay will step down
Why on earth would these players want to return to the PGA? They have it really good now.
I think this might fall through
You are wrong about LIV disappearing, it will be where the best players end up. Which means that there wont be lower ranking players dropping off the pga there might be more higher ranking players going to LIV and the lower players on LIV heading back to the pga. Also the world ranking points are meaningless right now with 2 current major winners dropping like stones so this was inevitable anyway.
How can you possibly feel justified in presenting this presentation as 'NEW' when all you have here was presented by JIMMY DUNNE about three weeks ago. Face it…LIV is dead, PGA remains in control, PIF has 'billions' already involved in US marketplace and they just wanted a piece of the PGA pie…the tradeoff was they had to agree to bury LIV. Let it run its 2024 contract but it is dead. LIV players 'MAY' be allowed back…depending upon how much they "shit in the nest" against the PGA…but they will forfeit (some of ) their leaving PGA blood money . ALL OF THIS IS WEEKS OLD and, I have mentioned it several times now, so please stop referring to LIV as the entity..the entity involved is PIF and they know LIV is dead because it has 'been bleeding money" and getting nowhere.
You forgot to mention that the US Government (Representatives I believe) have requested documentation BUT that will not stop this deal going through.
Oh, one other thing RIP Greg Norman…and thank goodness for that.
well MONAHAN IS A CROOK I DONT THINK HE WILL NOT LAST LONG IF I HELD THE PURSE STRINGS HE WOULDENT COME BACK EVEAN THE PGA PLAYERS DONT WANT HIM EXCEPT RORY
BASICKLY A LOAD OF NOTHING NO PLAYERS INVOLVED THEY WILL GO FOR A UNION AND I HATE UNIONS THEYR SOLE PURPOSE IS TO COLLECT MONEY FOR THEMSELVES AND WRECK BUISNRS
Team golf, we all play it at our clubs!
Surely LIV events should only recieve three quarters for points as only play 3 rounds?
The players signatures don’t appear because Monahan and Pelley wanted to present a fair accompli to the players. They know there would be pushback from the players. The hypocrisy of Monahan and Pelley makes their positions pretty much untenable.
World ranking points are set by OWGR and have a representation from the PGA And DP Tour. Both representatives abstained from voting when it came to LIV’s applications for world ranking points points because of a conflict of interests. So your point that LIV will get points once this deal is signed is incorrect, it will be based on the merits of the case and given LIV is likely to go away in its current form it’s likely to be a moot point.
LIV is dead, they cant recruit from PGA tour from now, the older has beens will soon retire, som will go back to PGA
How about this peice of information – LIV and pga didn't merger. Jesus Alex how easy is it to get that bit right
Monahan is a bought puppet, not the puppet master.
LIv /PIF have all the money and are in the driving seat..PGA is failing at business, and failing to keep players happy, otherwise so many wouldn't have left in the first place…it wasn't just the cash, other factors less travelling, more family time etc. why would any liv player leave Liv as long as they are able to earn world ranking points..which seems an inevitability. Theres no merger, its 2 seperate comps PGA and Liv, a 3rd new company is to be set up called newco…that will be a platform for more touraments hopefully for team matches between liv and pga, maybe some more majors created. its all about Saudi wanting a seat at the table with corporate america, to grow their fund to a trillion dollars as they back out of an oil economy..golf is the vehicle and how they can get access to the movers and shakers of the world. For them its about future investments…not about making Liv profitable…just a bonus if one day they break even with that side of things.
The Banker will pull the strings
for a team event they should talk to the club manufacturers. Like f1 players championship with points and manufacturers points. so rather than manufacturers sponsoring players to use their clubs players would be in the manufactures team and paid by them. would this bring Nike back to the game? maybe
Alex you deciphered the financial contributions statement wrong.. when it said the PGA and DP tour will contribute all of their commercial business and rights into newco.. and Pif will contribute LiV and Cash.. That doesn't mean LiV is going away as you suggested. It means they will all be in the same honey pot TOGETHER.. sharing all the earnings from this joint investment. It's only going to make them ALL stronger. Which is what they want, especially Keith Pelley.. who let's not forget, was rumoured to try and get PiF funding way before LiV started but failed. It's a win win for him.
Besides Yasir will be chairman, so he says who stays and goes. I honestly don't think he'll fire Greg.. who has done everything they've asked of him. There's more chance of them employing Chamblee as a director 😂
Welcome to corporate life. This is going to shake out as a business. Players are going to be employees. They may unionize, get a contract, take a minor role in organizing…But….Make no bones about it…..PIF didn't grow the fund to its current status by throwing money at bad investments. Any behavior that might disrupt profitability will not be tolerated. Sorry, but I don't see the players having much input in the business side of things. I doubt the LIV/Greg Norman model of a golf tour has shown much in the way of profitability. Look for some sweeping changes in the coming months and during the off season.
I don't recognize the OWGR anyway. I have my own ranking system that is more realistic. OWGR is biased due to the pressure applied by Moneyhan and is invalid.
Should we think that PIF wanted to "change golf", when they decided to buy it?
If so, why save the PGA name at all?
Now that they own it, and decided that LIV has no place to get new players. How could it possibly have a future?
The only reason LIV exists at all is because PIF funneled in buckets of cash, to lure top players away.
These were huge, short term contracts. A means to an end.
When they pull out of LIV, ranking points will be far less important than meeting next week's pay-role.
The players will come home, or choose to retire….
But what is LIV, without their bottomless pit of cash?
Why would PIF continue to support a league that can no longer recruit "top ranked players"
They have no intention to continue LIV.
6 months ago, LIV was necessary. Today, it is a bad investment!
So who gets a piece of the blood money? Disgusting. I’m out!
I alway thought the best players should play and earn the respect and money whatever tour they are playing it should be all about golf not politics
golf is now a joke
What a nest of vipers have taken control of our honourable game.
I can see a group of players starting up a small break out league in 3-5 years. Many players seem to feel slighted and won’t be happy with the meter in a few years.
Golf should incorporate more mixed levels of golfers. This is YouTube gol …… we want to bring the game to life!!!
I’m be said how much it’s turning back into an elite at sport but everyday the YouTube community want to enjoy the game at every level
Money going majorly to the top again. But as the interest grow within golf the money goes straight up the line where the superstars are the ones that are embellished with fortunes?
Let’s spread that down to levels where where players can have a chance……. If every tour event gave back to the guys trying to make a tour event or even get the the chance to compete for a chance
Good good are a growing mass of talent that give those guys a chance to succeed……… sponsors are changing …… following these creaters!!
The more politics arising in this game alienates those young or mid life golfers from even trying……golf is hard hard work….. the hardest game is on this earth……..
Spread the wealth and grow the game…… let’s not go back to a class system and making golf an elitest sport again
I am sure Jay Monahan received a tremendous bonus from Saudi Arabia for selling out the PGA tour Jay take your bonus and your poor health move to Saudi Arabia forever. P. Shea. F u j
The players down the pecking order had a boost up the ladder when the LIV players left.
All that will happen is they return to previous position?
Foggy agreement of a DOGS DINNER.
I see the PGAT players, that are at the bottom of the list that would be affected if some high caliber players come back, as fortunate to have had a chance to play on the tour to begin with. Had LIV not existed those players may still be struggling to get their PGA Tour cards and thus would have never made a penny in the big show as of yet. Plus, fighting to keep their card is always a factor if you're on the line. If they want to keep their cards, then they need to play better. It's just how it is. If there are better players that can re-apply and make it back on the tour, oh well. Beat them.
This is clear to me from this document :-
1) The new entity is for GLOBAL golf not the USA centric PGA tour. The Americans will need to get used to travelling…😂
2) LIV and team golf will continue but how the integration happens will be interesting to watch
3) PGA Tour will run the game from inside the ropes the New entity will run it from outside the ropes
4) Talk is of expanding the aquisitions for the good of the global game – watch out Asian tour, Japan tour, LPGA etc
5) It points to the PGA Tour running professional golf so where does this leave R&A and USGA….
6) The shareholding appears to say it is based on the assets being put in on a fair assessment basis AFTER liabilities so PIF will own the major shareholding.
7) The board will have a majority of seats for PGA Tour but there is no indication of a seat for the DP World tour….
8) We have all seen the power of shareholders in the commercial world….
Finally look at how PIF have operated in football etc to see how it will emerge after 3-5 years….remember he who pays the piper calls the tune….PGA tour do not have piles of cash only future sponsors money.
Warning: watch out Formula 1 you will be next….
These head guys will cut out the players, run this as a for profit corp that becomes very, take it or leave it.
There will eventually be an anti trust suit filed here.
I don’t think that the LPGA or mixed events will have a significant future while being controlled by a despicable regime who only a few years ago allowed women to drive cars never mind drive off the first!
