As an Irishman living in Lyon, France, it breaks my heart to see the Irish supporters being constantly let down and disappointed. When Ireland were here for their game against France, the whole city was a buzz because the Irish supporters were in town. It looks like it will be a long time before we ever get to a tournament again.
10 of the players who featured were aged 23 or younger. We need to keep faith with them .
Keeping faith with the management…….that's a different story.
lee carsley if he'd take it.
the number of ads is obscene! (worse than the match)
Go through both starting teams one by one and you'll see Greek players playing in Portugal, Germany, Netherlands, England and Greece with hundreds of appearances each, all of them with european football on a consistent basis and most of them blooded in international football. We started an out or favour goalkeeper, a few players who cant get regular starts, an 18 year old, a 22 year old whos only had one season at senior level etc.
We were always going to be struggling not to lose badly. I was disappointed that more pundits didnt highlight this once teams were announced but that would require actually knowing the greek players and their achievements wouldnt it.
Matt Doherty's attitude has always seemed terrible. Even when he was in form and flying at club level. The Midfield are lousy, an embarrassment.
There's a rumour going around that this Irish team were beaten 4-1 by the English ladies team last week in Turkey.
Get Conte in. Kenny out.
Bloody love Gary Been as such
Some home truths here from Gary Breen. Kenny hasn't really "developed players". Ferguson, Bazunu, Collins would have broken through under previous managers – we don't have a large pool. Crowing about Knight and Molampy is daft – they're ok players.
is David Connolly a Whiteboard salesman these days?
Brendan rodgers
Great analysis by Gary and David, the shape compleyely wrong, Ryan Manning a natural left sided player left out we are much better as a 4 back four playing players who have little game time better to play players with less ability but more game time, shocking game management, all the so called possession stuff is pointless with no end product, I used to say to my players let them have it in their half then when they make a mistake pass and move like the Greeks did. We play a slow laborious possesion based game allowing the opposition to get players back to defend before hitting us on the counter.
When we going to talk about the FAI's inability to produce quality homegrown players??? Forget Stephen Kenny he has an impossible job. We could have Pep in there and it would be the same outcome. This is decades of incompetence by the FAI and their overreliance on English born players
playing 3 centre halfs and two wing backs is really a back 5, not sure why people keep calling it a back 3
Oh ny God yeah, the opening 20 mins were so poor. No spirit, I thought Smallbone needed to take some of those mind altering drugs that the Norse Berserkers used to take before battle that would send them into an uncontrollable pupil-dilating battle frenzy. He needs to be angrier, like us here in the comments section.
I really enjoyed this discussion. David and Gary are great here.
Irish football is a reflection of the state of the country at the moment.
I saw the same happen to Germany a few years back when they lost their invincibility.
In Ireland we have a minister for Justice pushing a trans agenda while her husband is a stakeholder manager for a company selling puberty blockers.
Just one example of how Ireland has lost it's soul and could be argued that it's filtering down to the training pitch on infinite levels.
Our players are tired how from what bench warming at most there clubs?? Connolly we play well against Frances Hollands when occasionally? Connolly living in 90s 00s at push 🙄
Great analysis by David and Gary, was really impressed with David. Try get him on more, he’s really articulate and has a great insight into the game.
Tough to know where we go from here. We've tried direct football and older players with previous managers, positive football and young players with Kenny. Neither have worked.
The team was rusty, Kenny wasted a load of money on a training camp in turkey They didn't play any games in 6 weeks. Why didn't they play a few league of Ireland sides to keep sharpness that's not Good preparation. It's time for a new experienced manager to come in.
From the UK, what is the most popular sport in Ireland? Feels like with a small population you play too many , I could be way wrong lol
Chris hughton lads , good manager. Give him the job
Duggan was very fearful of it being implied he is calling for management change. Said it a good few times. The real amusing fact is Duggan's heart seems to be broken because he was a massive Kenny cheerleader in the first place.
JD WAKE UP AND SMELL THE ROSES ,,,,Kenny is a dead man walking …has been given loads of time….totally out of his depth at this level
Intelligent discussion with David & Gary, they should be invited on more often.
