I'm not saying this actually happened, but it's worth keeping in mind that sabotage would have been very easy with this sub, just a tiny little hole drilled 4 inches into the carbon fiber, and it would have failed at depth when the high pressure water reached the inner titanium tube. The hole could have been covered up, no one would have even noticed. As the water blasted through, the original hole would rapidly enlarge (also destroying evidence of the drilled hole) leading to implosion. Literally the perfect crime.
