15min hardly a podcast haha it's a clip
To be honest, i still like the way Australia play their test cricket as it doesn't seem different.
This type of format require the balance of aggression and defence. With this Bazball, I'm really not sure this is good for the Test cricket in general. 🙄
mel welcome back
If Bazball means preparing lifeless roads just so the batters can have a slog, then that's going to completely take the bowlers out of it. It's essentially ODI cricket with a red ball, and ODI cricket has basically lost it's relevance. You can't tell me Anderson and Broad would be happy bowling on a pitch like that – in England.
Love this coverage
The thing that emerges from this for me, apart from the brilliant anaylsis form Morgan and Sangakarra – and, of course the peerless, wonderful Mel – is that Australia have made a serious selection error here (regardless of the result) but had no alternative. You have to pick the bowler who the oppo would least like to face – and that is Mitchell Starc! If I'm the England right-handed batsmen thinking about facing a 145kph left armer? "No thanks!" Hazelwood, great thought he is? "Yes please!"
But in the bowling department, this isn't Starc vs Hazelwood, this is Starc vs Cummins. The problem is, the captain can't drop himself, yet, in normal circumstances, Starc would have been a better selection than Cummins.
And that's the deeper problem: these aren't normal circumstances. Australia can't choose their best player as captain (as is traditional) because he was already fired for cheating! So the non-selection of Starc is really indirect fallout from that shameful incident all these years later.
And it could prove really costly over the course of the series – unless the former captain makes lots and lots of runs! So no pressure Smith (hah!) because this England side look bloody dangerous.
This pitch is a complete road. Australia will be 5/600 by end of day 3
ludacris declaration. Labuschagne and smith will have a field day tomorrow and Sunday on the pitch. England will not take 20 wickets. The ausies will bat long. Even Khawaja will stay long once he gets in tommoroe morning
Belter of a wicket. Why did they not prepare this kind of wicket for WTC??? England is already scared of loosing.
Aust is a team of flat track bullies so 390 is nowhere near enough.
Your bowling attack is absolute rubbish. You will be broken in the field this ashes.
I imagine Australia will only have to bat once on this pitch.
Bazball is crap if we are going to play on these ODI road wickets
If England don’t have 2 wickets by lunch declaring was a massive mistake. Aussie if they bat like they did last week are gonna bat slow an try make the England bowlers tired like they did india .
I have no problem with this Bazball approach of England and most of the times before, I have loved the bold declarations Stokes has made but he should have understood that it is a flat wicket so 393 runs are not enough, that Root was still batting and could have easily added 30 odd runs more, that his team has got 3 medium pacers and a spinner who has not played tests for a long time who on this flat wicket could find it incredibly hard to get each wicket of this strong Australian batting unit.
Advantage England 👍💪👏
Why do random YouTubers with 3k followers have better audio quality than sky sports. Embarrassing…….
Australia will make 500 on this pitch. But then again the wether is cloudy tomorrow for clouderson and crew
Putting Australia in 2 sessions early and 50 -70 less could be a major mistake. Australia might only bat once.
The wicket dictated the field settings. No sense having 4 slips and 2 gullies on that pitch. And it was vindicated. How many slips catches?
Was it bazball or test cricket?
stupid declaration, hope Aus bats 2 days and wrecks them
God these comments are written by the most boring of people
Im sorry, what is weak about Australias defence??
The poms better pray for rain. If the aussies bat big for 2 days on this road, the English dads army attack is going to breakdown for the 2nd test.
Unless pitch spins up, Smith is not going to get out. If the pitch spins up, Smith is not going to get out. Either way, Smith is on here
Look, Australia have a strong potential to get 600 plus minimum but to declare fair enough cause I don't think Robinson would've hung in too much longer
Irresponsible from England.
Ridiculous.
We wont win test matches playing this way.
The experts are being kind.
They all know its pathetic.
The Aussies will bat for two days and win by a wide margin.
This way of playing.
Declaring on day one?!
What question does it actually pose to an opponent?
Stupid
Root is on the way to break sachins test run tally
I have always loved McCallum as a player but i don't understand hype around Bazball. This pitch was as flat as concrete road and McCallum apparently requested for flat pitches so what's the point of Test Cricket.
Also i don't know when McCallum took over as coach but they didn't qualify for WTC final in both editions so what's the point of this.
The wicket is flat, I expect a Labuschagne hundred
Changes never been not accepted in one go by humans it's human nature it's very difficult to accept changes thats why bazzball look odd that too in test cricket it will take time ita no one fault it's just human nature England knows what they are doing they will loose also bt people who love test cricket want to that test cricket should be play in a certain manner which makes all the team same
Morgan the gentleman helping his cohost with the final score of the day – love it! Nice show
Australia need to score 600+ tire england bowlers
Flat tracks😂😂😂 this is what bazball is..Ashes wouldn't be successful in India
In fairness it's pretty hard to be aggressive in the field with zero seam, swing or bounce and a bunch of white ball cricketers swinging for the fences
Weak Australian Defense! What is meant by it?
1st question was asked to Sangakkara, but eion answered.
a score is 393 in a first innings on that pitch isn't good in my opinion
Australia to make 500 + England declared way to early, should of batted all day and half 1st session day 2 if possible. But a great contest nether the less!
Cricket traditionalists would be really surprised at a declaration.
I could listen to Kumar Sangakkara all day
14:20
‘He‘ll go down as England’s best ever bat’
Hobbs, Sutcliffe, Barrington, May, Hutton…not sure about that😮
I can't believe the Aussies didn't give them more short stuff. This England team would have half of Cricket's Most Bounceable Faces 11 covered.
Why on earth would you declare when Joe Root is still out there on that pitch?
England could've easily had the Aussies chasing a 500+ 1st innings total. Absolute madness to declare when they did.
