There was nothing wrong with the US Open. The course was great and it was competitive. The players complaining about the course is absurd. Its a different test of golf and not typical US open course. If you dont perform well then blame your game. Koepka saying he likes chaos was being a biyatch and whining just because he played badly. Course rewarded great play as seen by a handful of low 60 rounds.
Honestly, the good good championship was way better. Just my personal opinion
It’s amazing how people forget Chambers Bay!
WORST US opens are Chambers Bay and Shinnecock Hills where USGA lost control of both courses with burnt out greens. LACC was great test ,great conditions .
Was competitive but tee times were too late. Were starting past midnight if watching in Europe
Amazing
Bring back the US Open to Merion…THAT was infinitely superior as a US Open test to this course and it has the pedigree and history to match.
It was the most boring US Open ever!!!!!
Mr Short game. This was some of your best content. Very fluid
“What if there’s a playoff? That could run into darkness.”
US Opens are 18 hole Monday playoffs anyway, but the rest of your points were good
In Ireland last out on sat was 11 40 pm !!!
Who going to stay up til 4 am watching golf 😫🫣
What I enjoyed was the shots of downtown LA. I mean you couldn't really see it but you could kinda see an outline of what I think must have been LA. The announcers must have been from LA because they called the murky gray pollution a "Marine Layer". Makes me appreciate the clear blue skies of the midwest.
Richie looked up tight when he arrived at the facility! When Rickie showed up Saturday he was walking with a buddy talking laughing looking loose and ready! Sunday he showed up by himself with a much more up tight look on his face !
It should never be there again, a rich neighborhood blocking patrons is not a good look for the game is it?
My opinion is that all Professional golf player should be up for the challenge and play ANY course. Its about the game and the challenge of a persons skills, thus why the professional.
Always said Rickie has this subconscious way of trying to lose on Sunday. I saw him win at 2019 WM open, and man did he try his hardest not to win that Sunday also.
people are so focused on racism. I think classism is the real problem.
I agree about the tee times after the cut on Friday. The tee times for the last players was 6:40 pm EST. Why are these people teeing off so late? How many players made the cut to the extent that the last two players didn’t tee off until 3:30 in the afternoon? They had three players per group the first two days, why not continue that during the last two days. Did 75% of the players make the cut? The last group should have teed off by no later than 2pm PT.
There are videos of folks playing LACC. I watched quite a few with the guys that did the redo as well. Great commentary!
The only good part of the LACC US Open was the guy doing the player interviews instead of the gushing Andrea whats-her-name.
NBC have no idea how to cover golf. Couldn't even show what hole they were on. No crowd, ridiculous late tee times, cheating players in bunkers.
Doesn't the US Open have an 18 hole playoff?
Absolutely !! They are now the ARAB LEAGUE!! QUIT WATCHING PROTEST BY NOT WATCHING ANYMORE !!!😡😡😡
I agree this U.S. Open sucked. You don’t want scores like that in the U.S. Open. Thank God for a Shinnecock Hills.
Try being in UK it was midnight and leaders had only played a few holes
Lot of fans in Europe that US broadcasters lost out
I wonder what His Highness Sir Rory McElroy would say if he knew about the USGA’s prostitution of the US Open, not allowing golf fans to get tickets. Those Same fans that spend millions buying the equipment and merch that keeps his sponsors and other players sponsors in business. If this is true it’s scandalous.
First, I watch little golf. I watch Saturday and Sunday at The Masters. I watch Sunday only at the U. S. Open, and I might watch a little Sunday action at the British Open. That's it. I don't watch the PGA or any of the regular tournaments. Now you know a little about me. I loved how late the leaders teed off on Sunday. I live on the West Coast and having all morning and a little afternoon to do other things was wonderful. I guess I should mention that I start watching when the last group tees off. NBC needs to get Johnny Miller back. CBS needs to get Nick Faldo back. Without them, their broadcasts are unlistenable. I turn the sound off, which I'm sure makes the advertisers happy. Crowd levels looked fine to me, and the course looked fun, and since I was routing against Rickie and Rory, I'm happy with the outcome. Post round interviews I can do without. I didn't notice what time the tournament ended, but if it was near to or after 11pm EDT, the network would have cut any interviews after the tournament in an effort to give the airtime back to the local, East Coast, stations in time for their 11pm news. Within one minute of the tournament being over, I turned it off, so for me, there's no need to interview the winner.
Disagree on the Brandel take. He is sloppy and unprepared and somehow is the lead analyst when better players should be in that role. Chamblee, McGinley, and Eamon are unwatchable.
So no original take here. Just piling on the narrative
I've always loved your coaching tips – so I'm really pleased to find you do this type of content, too (sorry for being so late to the party!). You're always so watchable. Liked and subscribed!
Saturday tee times, just another example of the PGA steppin' on their peepees.
I wanted Rickie to win too, but dude could have taken off his shades for that last putt. I was thinking take off your sun glasses my guy!!!
There was only one reason, not the course or its overly generous set up not even the lack of fans. The fact they set the tee times to suit the east coast of the US while claiming they want to spread the game is the reason this was the worst US open ever. And people still question the idea of Greg Norman wanting to have a true world tour for a true world sport. A$$hole insular American center of the universe thinking at its best.
Not sure if it was the worst US Open ever (Olympia Fields and Chambers Bay come to mind) but the US Open used to have fairway widths of 18-23 yards and it was set up for you to use every club in your bag during a round. No mas, unfortunately.
NBC should never get another tour event. Absolute joke. More commercials than golf, skipping countless shots of guys within striking distance even including the leaders. Just terrible coverage. The US Open last week was the worst covered sporting event maybe ever.
