A lot of people think that when we hit little pitch shots around the green we actually turn the face under and keep it open. The only problem with that is the throwing of the club head with the trail hand trumps the “feel” of the club face turning under. The truth is the face doesn’t stay open. Larry Rinker played in 525 PGA Tour events, finished 5th in sand saves in 1988, and led the Tour in putting in 1990.
