Rickie Fowler and Xander Schauffele fire historic 62s on the first day of what was supposed to be a difficult U.S. Open setup. Xander’s dad tells us what made his low round possible. Those performances overshadowed a 6-under score from Dustin Johnson, who spoke to what’s working for him, and Phil Mickelson remains in the hunt, too. The GOLF.com team captures all this and more on-site at Los Angeles Country Club.

I love the drone shots, but they could be on screen longer.

Why set the course up easy? insane..38 players under par
really sad to see such a great record like Miller's get tied up cause of the USGA. To shoot a 62 at Oakmont on a Sun may go down as one of the greatest rounds in golf history. But this is what you get at a course like this w/ 45 yard fairways at a US Open? C'mon. And the course itself looks like a great great course but it may not be a US Open caliber course.
I love this course USGA screwed up on setup, you can’t give these guys 40 of fairways cmon with equipment and golf ball they are to good. Dudes hitting a short iron to a par 5. Ball is to good
This tournament is missing the magic known as Michael Block…..
Xanders dad is that guy from the office
Every player broke 80 and cut could be at even par. I have heard commentators say it was the perfect storm no wind and cloud cover with too much humidity making course play too easy. I have lived in So. Cal. for almost 50 years, hasn’t the USGA ever heard of June gloom in Southern Cal., it means a thick marine layer and very little sun. And the weather in Southern California this year has been much cooler and much less sun than normal and a lot more rain, the USGA should of set up the course with narrower fairways as well as not watering or much less water on the greens a few days before the tournament.
F-N. Joke! Fire the clowns that set up course! Insult 2 George T. Records being broken. *** ? Bad look 4 Los Angeles ! It's the US Open. Course has teeth let it eat the divas!
