Spieth's ball kind of did a Pulp Fiction.
A miracle happened for Fitzpatrick and I want someone to acknowledge it.
I considered both of Spieth's puts in the first two playoff holes to be two good put attempts, but they just didn't drop. It was almost as if there was a collar around the holes. One of the announcers said something along the lines of Fitzpatrick is going to eventually take advantage if Speith keeps doing this… but I don't think Spieth did anything particularly wrong in the playoff holes. He could have put a little more on the second put, but it wasn't a bad put.
As someone who roots for Spieth this was stressful to watch… I can only imagine what it's like for the players. And perhaps that's what separates people who play sports at such a level, because it would be challenging to get my head straight and get my confidence levels back up after taking those types of loses even though one should be very happy with that overall performance. Spieth played an excellent week of golf and ironically he looked so much better this year in this event compared to last year even though last year he ended up winning it.
Props to Fitzpatrick he was playing better Tee to green in the final holes of the round compared to speith and had a couple of puts that could have closed spieth out prior to the playoffs and he missed both.
To put it in terms of money, about 1.5 mil..that was difference between winning and second place😢😢
