a good and balanced analysis this episode. thanks Jason, I enjoyed it all through!
I just can't see the Nuggets in a vacuum… they're too big
But was it historic tho ? i thought you said they didn't face any real oponents, despite betting against them in the suns and lakers series ? two weeks before the playoffs you said that AD was the best player in the world, but after the series you said that Jokic didn't faced any real competition, which one is it ?
its okay that you picked the suns and lakers predictions are always difficult to get right especially when a team hasnt done it before. but to say there wasnt much adversity after the nuggets ran through the teams/players they did, (they were vegas underdogs against LA and phoenix), is just not true. everyone saying miami was undermanned and stuff but they ran through everyone else's number 1 and 2 on the way to the finals. Either way man you're one of the best out there analyzing the game. nobodys perfect
So much listening to this show! I’m here for the opinions and perspectives I agree and disagree with.
I grew up in a sports minded family. All sports! But basketball was always my favorite. I watch you often mostly because you're very likeable and have taught me so much about the NBA. I live in northern Colorado and love the Nuggets. We also love college basketball. My teams are Syracuse (born in NY) and CSU. Check out a player named Isaiah Stevens. Total joy to watch. Thanks for your incredible knowledge of basketball.
I'm not a basketball fan. I dropped by here because I find some funny comments here. Not a lot but enough to make it worth my while as I pass enough time here at the Department of Motor Vehicles so I don't have to deal with the annoying customers.
I wish i wasnt forced into 30 seconds of ads before i listen to jasons spew.
Hey Jason! congrats on accomplishing so much here already! I only got into the NBA in recent years and while I loved the game I got super tired of the mainstream media immediately. Your show was a breath of fresh air compared to them last year and it has been just as good this year. I have watched almost all of your shows this postseason and I have one critique if you're willing to take it. Sometimes you repeat yourself a lot when discussing the same teams and I understand not everyone watches every show and repetition is essential but I think you could work on figuring out how to convey the same ideas with different wordings at different times. Making the same ideas at least sound a bit different every time goes a long way in keeping your speech fresh. Good luck!
as a nuggets fan i do think if we would've had to face the warriors or even the kings those teams would've given us the hardest time, my guess is those series go to 7 with denver winning, jason you're correct when you say that there are specific matchups that make jokic work more and therefore are difficult for the nuggets, its super quick movement based gaurds and the great thing for us is there's really only two guys in the league who fit that mold in dearron fox and steph curry. but in those series denver would've just pummeled both of those teams in the paint and would've won out in the end is my guess.
Jason the real defensive stat you need to look at for Denver is clutch time defense in the regular season. I know that normally does not translate to playoffs but in this case it did as Denver was in the top 5 I think during clutch time defense. In the playoffs with the same effort we rose near the top upper echelon of teams. Coincidence I don’t think so…
With all your technical knowledge I found it really disappointing that you thought the suns would beat Denver. That shows that you can’t think clearly your own thoughts. Jokic has been shooting 65 percent throughout the season recording triple doubles constantly. Denver won so many home games. Why would you think the suns could overcome these advantages? Didn’t you watch Jokic the last three years? I wish I didn’t hear that you picked Denver to lose. Now I can’t get it out of my mind that you can’t think original thoughts and you just follow the trade winds.
Jason just speaks well and presents his ideas well yet isnt actually doing a good job of understanding the game.
Still wont give Jokic his flowers
For a guy who talks so much about the details and being a small media guy you should know to call him Michael Malone… not Mike
Jason you are not showing you can process information objectively. You act like you can but you are just buying into the main stream bias. Very disappointing. I like your break downs but you are spineless and myopic considering how much you know about X’s and O’s.
Also seems like you watched JimmyHighrollers video on Jokic and pulled stats and talking points from him… hahaha cmon dude
I have always liked this podcast and thought the comments offered were very helpful. Frankly, I think all sports fans/commentators tend to take themselves too seriously, but then that is part of the game, right? I thank Jason and his co-workers for their time.
This guy is Great !! Quit giving him crap. Love Joker but if CP3 didn’t get injured AGAIN, Phoenix may very well have won that series. All teams that win it all have some breaks go their way. Jason’s analysis is rock solid. Props to Denver on getting it done and to Jason for great analysis throughout 👍
Obviously they didn't win the chip but in 2020 the Nuggets came back from TWO 3 – 1 deficit with Jokić playing great in both series. They didn't have expectations but that's already plenty of adversity
Wtf? How are you talking about a dynasty after 1 ring and 1 Finals appearance? 😂
People were down on the Lakers because they were horrible for half the season. They made some great moves and everyone credited their front office for making them a contender. Denver was in 1st most of the season and you still dumped on them. Like I said before, I GREATLY appreciate the analysis of X's and O's but the bias for the Lakers is pretty tiresome.
🤡💩
No, and no, and no.
This whole video was basically being pissed off the nuggets were so dominant and jokic was way better than lebron and lakers run in 2020 lmaoo now its nuggets didnt face any adversary and spent half the show talking about lebron being great wtf. Hes an idiot for real
“Lebron needs more help” every damn year 😂
How many wide open 3s did denver miss? A lot. If they made half of what they missed we wouldn't be talking about the Heat's zone.
Congratulations love your show!!! It’s the best talk show for basketball
Jason I have to say that even though this is the first year I've listened to the volume, I know you've done a great job with your show. And I'm glad you are around.
whoever insulted Jason just cause he speaking facts about your team get lost bruh – Denver fan here!
it’s v impressive how you can talk for so long giving such good incite so concisely, not even any ums or ahs! great show looking forward to the off seasons chatter 🙂
Thank you for all your expert analysis. I'm nobody, but I followed the Nuggets this year and they didn't play overall great defense all year as you say. They did however have spurts of great defense during certain games when they needed it. They cruised most of the year with their easy scoring 2 man game, so they didn't need to play good defense most of the time. Also, once they were looking like they would get the #1 seed in the west they didn't play well, so their defense suffered for that. So, the numbers don't tell the story of how good the Nuggets defense could be before the playoffs and once the second season started they played good to great defense as they did at times in the regular season.
Ur a great dood jason. don't listen to the haters, just keep doin what ur doin. Anyone that matters enjoys ur takes & hard work
Again like so many NFL games the referees screwed up the game’s trying to rig the outcome or specifically the spread for gambling purposes especially clearly in game five. I just don’t know how this going to end end considering gambling money involved here
Keep up the good work…love the two-man tag with you and Colin as well…holistic analysis always appreciated.
I don’t understand why you’re diminishing their championship run? I think you need to come to terms that they are just that much better than the other teams in the nba. Didn’t face a real offense? Suns were ranked 3rd in offense?
It's difficult to repeat- once you win a chip you have a target on your back the following season.
Congratulations on a great season Jason! Looked forward to your show after every game. Thank you for working so hard for us!
Shut up LeBum fan boy.
Only reason why the Lakers games were close was because of the refs.
Argue that and you will expose yourself as a casual.
You also thought centres were not important… in a sport where height is everything?
GTFOH… you drank the shooting a la Curry kool-iad.
Ujiri in Toronto drank that kool-aid too… look at the Rators now… being ran by a guy who only has a job because of being melanin enriched.
I don't think they'll be a dynasty team because they aren't great. They are very good offensively but defensively not so great
Thank you Jason, over the course of this season you have become one of my go to's when it comes to the league. I really appreciate how you broke things down as far as the aspects of the game. a great example is; how you explained the Heat's zone, or something like drop coverage. My goodness it's not easy to explain all of the information, I respect your hard work and dedication. I know it's not easy especially back to backs or multiple games all at once. This show is truly a pallet cleanser from hot takes and debates, just simply a breakdown of the game of basketball. Appreciate you and your team, looking forward to more content going forward. cheers
I’m wondering if the nuggets put in the work this summer. The biggest change I’ve noticed in jokic is that he is in EXCELLENT shape compared to a few years ago, he’s looked more fit every year and was impressively running the floor this year. I’m wondering if he’ll stay on the grind or get complacent
Thank you for the show.
JASON TIMPF THE 🐐
Lol it's so funny to see every single "analyst" who picked denver to loose and had them as underdogs all the way to the finals, suddenly do a mental summersault and say that denver didn't face any real adversity
2020 was bubble for god's sake, its not real competition!!!!
It is ok to admit that you have not paid that much attention on the Nuggets team and Jokic – so you did not see the potential. Most of us did not.
It is better then accepting that you will just react on the results, we all can do that, from the analysts we expect to foresee the feature, better than us casuals.
Jason: I have followed the NBA since 1963-64 and agree with your rule about picking teams – champion. Usually I look at who is the champion. This post season, Anthony Davis had the championship. Jokic did not; although Denver looked like they would win the Western Conference since January, 2023. The biggest obstacle for Denver will be injuries. I would look at load management throughout the regular season.
