Georgia LB Nolan Smith
Senior 6’3 238 lbs

Georgia LB Nolan Smith was the No. 1 overall recruit in the composite, but was viewed as a bit of a “disappointment” after his first two seasons. He was ranked above Kayvon Thibodeaux, Evan Neal, Travon Walker, Garrett Wilson & Derek Stingley Jr. In 2021, Smith had a breakout year & helped Georgia build a dominant defense on their way to a National Championship. After all the highs of a championship, Smith was having a solid season then suffered a season ending injury. He looks to be past that now because he showcased how much of an athletic freak he is at the NFL Combine. His 4.39 forty is raising him up draft boards.

  1. I think what Howie is doing is highly intelligent this will help Dean and Jordan and the two rookie all be comfortable because they already know how to play with each other and than to throw Smith in with Reddick, BG and Sweat and Barnett

  2. I like all these guys. But is it smart to pick so many people from the same team? They're gonna end up with some angry people in that locker room if some of these guys gotta get traded. Hopefully they keep it business and not personal. Because to have every single one of these Georgia guys work out would be statistically improbable. It would be nice, but I wouldn't bet on it.

  3. He could play coverage and take off the pressure of Hassan reddick having to drop into coverage

  4. At 238# his weight scares me against the run and then you watch his highlight films and he just has a spectacular nose for the ball against the run. With 4.39 speed he is going to be a real fun watch putting him on and off the line. Running over/unders, dropping into coverage. Nascar package with Hassan, Carter, Cox, Graham and Smith, OH MY! Overloads with Sweat, Hasan and Smith. It really could get carnal. Philly nailed the 1st round.

  5. A lot of people compare Nolan Smith to Hassan Reddick and I think he’s more of a hands down DE, I feel like if he gets in the weight room, adds a good 20-30 pounds and keeps whatever he can of his 4.39 speed he could be a Killer DE and we won’t have to trade Reddick

  6. Smith opposite Reddick in a 5-man Front. Better get rid of the ball in 1.2 seconds or less.

  7. I mean, freak athlete but not one time in that highlight did he use his 4.39 speed to actually beat a tackle for a sack. He kind of just half speed paddy caked with the tackles and got clean up sacks.
