BOSTON, MA — Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery wasn’t thrilled with the Bruins first 40 minutes against the Rangers on Saturday at TD Garden. In the third, the Bruins turned up the heat, padding their lead to 4-1 en route to a 4-2 victory.
“We got to it,” said Montgomery. “I thought we played real intelligently in the third. The first two periods, for whatever reason, our mental execution, us reading plays and making plays, with or without the puck, was a little slow. It’s understandable. It’s our sixth game in nine and half days with a lot of travel. It wears on you. We didn’t mentally start with the 1 o’clock start time today.”

Greatest team I have ever had the pleasure of watching!
Even when they win, the general attitude from the coaches down to the players is improvement. They’re never ever satisfied which is the recipe for success
Monty… put Krejci and Orlov on the top pp unit. Doesn’t have to be permanent. Looks like all teams have our first unit figured out.
Never in my wildest dreams did I think these Bruins would be the juggernaut they are. Competitive? Yes but this regular season so far is bananas. This year can not be a repeat of the '71 B's who ran roughshod over the rest of the league at 57-14-7 for 121 points only to run into Dryden in the playoffs. This club has to win the Cup.
We cannot hear the questions, just the answers. Please fix this.
McAvoy doesn’t belong on the first unit
This guy has very quietly done an incredible job. The attitude of this team is rare. Great leaders and great players. Love to see them finish the job.
This team is gearing for the playoffs. The Presidents trophy means nothing to them. They have the ultimate goal in mind Lord Stanley.
Man, this Bruins team is so good. Been a fan since 1969, and not since the days of Orr, Esposito, Bucyk, Hodge, Cashman, Cheevers, etc., have I been this happy and excited about a Bruins team.
Dont get me wrong, I LOVED Bruce Cassidy, i was pretty upset when he left. However, he always lacked personality and I think Jim really brings that as well as better coaching in general. He seems happy to coach, not like its "some job" like so many do. idk if its him or what hes telling/coaching the players but, this team seems more bonded than ever.
I know money's tight but can someone figure out how to microphone the questions, it's the same in the NFL, I can't be the only one who's irritated by this.
This team goes 500 the rest of the year they'd Still win 59 games. Crazy.
jesus fuck…..i love this guy!
such a rink rat cool AF dude;
there is NO wonder this team has jelled and plays for him as they do!
enjoy this Bs fan…..it is soooooooooooooooooooooo fucking rare!!
historic stuff indeed…..
the players/coaches/management to a man do not seem overwhelmed with this….seem very comfortable and grounded
so barring some devastating injuries, this team will not flinch when they start building the 16 wins!!
been a Bs fan since the mid 60s and as much as i adored the 2011 squad….and the rough and tumble brawlers of 60s/70s/80s…..
this group is tight and steady and there are no holes
I saw the Rangers vs. Bruins afternoon February game 1966. Had lunch “Top of the Pru” I was 15 no helmets. What I just watched I swear they are skating (to me) @ twice the speed! Maybe it’s the 57 yr advancement of these Canadian youngsters. Swedes, Finns, Ruskies, USA’s U all take 2nd fiddle to Oh Canada!
I like the way 'Gomery takes great praise to the players… I can see his great passion for hockey; the fasted pro sport!
😂 I think we should find out from Brad Marchand, how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop! Go B’s
Looking the the “Perfect Storm” Neely and Sweeney taking heat for canning Cassidy ( and most of us were pissed) Jim Montgomery the right guy in the right place, Krecji returns and this locker room is focused on one thing. The Stanley Cup.
Bruins looked slughished first 2 periods understandble road trip travel.but winner winner chicken dinner.bertuzzi looked good.keep it rollin
Why can’t they invest in mics so we can hear the questions!! Annoying
What is with these Post-Game Press reports with the coach or players, is it too difficult to give a microphone to the person "asking the question"???? 😟
This is a smart guy. "we didn't mentally start with the 1 o'clock start time today…"
It would be nice to see a CC text so that we could hear the questions from the journalists
I'll have what this team is having… wow.. juggernaut comes to mind when I see this team.. be careful though.. peaking too early might be a problem.. but this team doesn't look like they have yet.. scary!!
Monty and actor Rob Corddry from Ballers could be brothers!😂
I love that you can hear the reporter's questions…
i seen his pep talk before the 3rd period which they showed on national television vs the rangers and basically he told the team let’s go play bruins hockey and they did just that in the 3rd , this coach has surprisingly got this team to another level where i see no team can beat them in the playoffs… #gobruins
5/50 on the PP. That IS a problem. I know people want to think the Bruins are this perfect team but, 5/50 on the PP is garbage. They have to know this. Also they still have issues when the opponent is fore checking them aggressively as some of their defensemen (75 and 48 specifically) lose their minds when pressured in their own zone.
BTW: the two aspects I mentioned above is exactly why they lost to the Hurricanes in seven games on home ice last year, just an FYI for you.
The Hurricanes aggressively fore checked, were always first to pucks, Bruins could not generate any speed through the neutral zone and the Hurricanes committed a lot of penalties in that series and the Bruins couldn't generate anything on their PP chances. I don't see a lot of differences this year and teams are going to exploit that if they don't figure it out before April.
Before we get all excited keep in mind we have like the 25th or 27th strength of schedule and while it is true we have done extremely well against everyone we won't be playing the bottoms in the playoffs. As you know every game is a tough one and anything can and usually does happen including injuries.
Montgomery is a sight for sore eyes 😍
