  1. Matthews Maple Leaf or not, MLSE not losing a dollar. It's more than highly unlikely Matthews gets move, Marner NMC kicks in July 1st he'll probably will not sign before that, honestly don't think Nylander gets moved either, they'll play this out until Tavares no longer here, the current core 4 is Matthews Marner Nylander Reilly…

  2. 1st-you don't trade a guy like Mathews 2nd-Nylander has done more than enough to stay especially at a very friendly cap hit 3rd-Tavares is untradeable so your stuck with him. That leaves you will Marner who isn't built for high stakes, physical hockey so get what you can for hm(2 1st's and its a done deal IMO) and use that money to resign Orielly and Samsaov.

  3. The Leafs cup window is officially closed. The Shannaplan failed and Dubas lost the power struggle. Matthews is a Dubas loyalist and will be traded. He is not a playoff performer and he will want 13 million per year. LOL!

  4. You need to trade Matthew's and Marner. Keep Nylander and Tavares.

Load up on top 10 picks this year.

    To Arizona: Matthews
    28th pick

    To Toronto: 6th pick
    Clayton Keller
    Logan Cooley

  5. Sorry but AM 34 has NEVER produced in the PLAYOFFS where it MATTERS. HAPPY to trade him for a stud number 1 d-man.
get some common sense in your heads people.

  6. The Leafs are screwed no matter what. If they sign Matthews they will have no money left for anyone else. If they trade him they will not get in return what he's worth. Just think about it, you are a potential trade partner what would you be willing to give the Leafs in return for Matthews if there's no guarantee that he will sign with the new team and just leave after a year? It would have to be a trade and sign situation and Matthews could say no I'm not going to sign which means he already has a no trade situation.

  7. According to CapFriendly, Marner's NMC also kicks in July 1st THIS year. So basically Toronto have to make a decision on him too, besides Nylander and Mathews.

  8. Matthews has known for over two years that he is going to sign for a US West coast team.
With or without Dubas Matthews is leaving
No way should the Leafs let Matthews walk with no return.
Trade Matthews and Nylander and sign players who will actually show up in the playoffs.

  9. Dubas did a terrible job.
Signing Matthews to only a 5 year contract to walk him to free agency a.s.a.p

  10. I had to un-sub because of clickbait videos and titles. There is no terrible news, just a non news video.

  11. Lets all put our thinking caps on for two seconds and ill pose this question : what makes anyone think he was going to sign on july 1st , even if dubas was gm?

Matthews has just come off of what is arguably one of his worst offensive seasons of his career and another dissapointing playiff performnce with 0 goals the entire second round.

If i was matthews regardless of who is in the GM spot i wouldnt sign until midseason and i would prove my value with consistent play. For matthews this could be the difference between 13 million a year or 14.5 million a year

  12. trade him he's not a playoff performer, he's not desperate enough, he's all about the money, trading him gives you the biggest cap relief and the biggest return

  13. If Matthews pulls a Johnny hockey(hilarious to me that a guy with that nickname is a little spinless traitor to a team that basically gave him his chance for success) then he might have to hire a 24 hour security team lol

  14. Matthews reportedly is wanting $14 million, that may price him out of staying at Toronto, however, 6:22 if Toronto is to have any hope of winning the cup in the near future, he needs to get extended, it's going to be a difficult situation for the new incoming GM

  15. None of them have no-trade or no-movement clauses. If Mathews doesn't want to be in the team, trade him. Good riddance. Canadian teams need to avoid American's in the draft….they have little loyalty to Canadian teams and seem to create poor team-first culture.

    Good riddance.

  16. who cares if Mathews doesnt stay. the team is better off without him. hes great when its preseason but when the chips are down, he folds like limp banana! good Riddance!

  17. Matthews
    Carjack Marner
    Johnny Pyjamas
    Nylander

None of them are built for Playoff’s

    Is this not evident after
4 -5 years of repetition and repeat hot-garbage performances

    All 4 are Daffodils 🌼

I hope they don’t let the foot hit them on the way out

  18. Does it go farther then this, is true there's reports of Dudas's agent that was a part of the conter offer increase for Dubas, the same agent representing Matthew's? Is there some type of conflict of interest? And no matter the of type contract Dubas made if he was gm, would of made any total and conditions on a new Matthew contract questionable

  19. Does TML have $15MM to sign Matthews? If they do – then the ‘Dubas’ experiment continues. High paid ‘six’ and a continuous revolving door for the rest. BUILD A TEAM!

  20. Looks like club Dubas is closed and the bar flys who do nothing on the ice durning the playoffs dont like it.

  21. Best to move him and get some depth pieces who perform in the playoffs. I don't care about regular season scoring titles, you play hockey to win the stanley cup. Matthew is overpaid with no playoff success to show for it, let's get back some playoff performers instead.

  22. The Toronto brass is going to have swallow hard and basically give Matthews whatever he wants. I am guessing it is going to be the $14 million range. It's simply not 8:56 feasible to consider Toronto even remotely contending for the cup without Matthews.

  23. 1st time looking at the trades. I love watching hockey, for decades. My opinion was that The Leafs were finally building a strong club, give or take a few. But I think if Mathews goes, he will need his sidekick, Marnier. Am I a Leaf fan, I sure don't know now. Sure is alot of Drama on trades…..
