BETTER!!!!!
I always start with worse. I have no expectations only that they are right were the odds makers or those who rank them say they are. Thats where they always wind up usually. If they are great though and better, be ready for the mean ole NFL to step in and stop things.
"Everyone has a plan 'till they get punched in the mouth." Mike Tyson.
This whole team is going to be so much better this season as long as they stay relatively healthy.
Health is the key seriously and always the team's biggest opposition. The talent on both sides of has increased tremendously. IF we can dodge these freak injuries we are going to be really tough to beat.
Our trainers suck.
You’re always so pessimistic dude , just let the season play out
This guy doesn't have a clue
? That's what makes this yr so interesting. Our DB room has potential to be the best in NFL (certainly, most physical). They can set a goal of being #1 DB unit. For perspective on pedigree, I averaged our top 8 DBs' draft position & got a composite 44.5. Meaning our entire DB room has the pedigree of a top 45 pick. I imagine if we were to calculate for all 32 teams, that has to be near the top. Even if we look at our DBs 9-13 (Amadi, Howden, Johnson, Pride Jr, Monday) they were all good players in college. The DB listed last in Anthony Johnson was a top 3 graded CB in the country last yr (out of 1000+ candidates). That's our 12th/13th DB. So that unit should be special.
The question mark is our front 7. We have some young breakout candidates (like Werner, D'Marco, Saunders, Granderson, Shepherd, Bresee, Foskey, Roach). There's also a more unified vision. All of our defensive signings & draft picks showed "sideline to sideline range." That's the one constant I see this offseason; DA really tried to improve all 3 levels' ability to contend with mobile QBs & backfield speed. From Bresee & Saunders chasing sweeps outside to Foskey corralling guys in the open field to Abrams & Howden's downhill reliability to Adebo & Alontae's physicality to D'Marco & Orji's play speed…it's much more uniform & less piecemeal than last yr. Installing a new DL is a challenge, but Grantham is the type who might be able to light a fire. All things considered, on paper, our D looks better this yr. We still could add a couple front 7 guys too. The only thing maybe lacking is, "who's getting sacks?" So maybe add either a pressure DE like a Leonard Floyd or Frank Clark. Plus a LB3 for cover/blitz like a Deion Jones or Pat Queen type speedy chess piece.
Whodat
Saints were foolish for letting Ellis walk, especially to Atlanta
Demario is Gods only linebacker. He only slows down when God directs him to.
All these statistics and critics with opinions that don't matter, its all foolishness. Year to year rosters change! This 2023-24 Saints team will be nowhere near what the past two teams were. They'll be light years better! This Defensive efficiency mess is just another foolish irrelevant statistics 😒 !!!
You know why the Defense will continue to thrive? Because the Saints brain trust know when to move on from players. They will be better because the players they parted ways with were getting older and underperformed big time! ( 30th Ranked run defense) every D-lineman that is gone needed to be gone!!! Do your job or get replaced! That's the business. They replaced them with better more younger explosive players. They got younger and faster on their defensive line. Improved 100%!!!
35 combined games missed yet we was 2nd in passing defense . we really sum dogs frfr
Definitely way better, younger personnel with more moxie, explosiveness, intelligence and abilities. That DEFENSE HAS DAWGS
Now go Saints goooo let's goooooooo
Can't predict how rookie defenders will do. But predicts every rookie QB will gave a higher ceiling than Carr…
I appreciate honest takes. We dont need every saints show to glorify them with optimism. Just call it like it is, we all want the saints to win. But some of us still think that the coaches are just going to become different people. We settled. At qb, at head coach, and now at oc. I love the saints, but they are not doing the right things to win a championship, they would prefer to just not have to rebuild.
They will be better as a good running game will help the defense.
Our run defense was bad so letting defensive tackles walk is a ok with me. I like Ellis but he’s the number three linebacker on a team then runs mostly two linebacker sets. Werner is younger than Ellis also. The db room should be rock solid so if we get any improvement stuffing the run this defense should be better barring significant injury.
Is DEM even a thing? Last year we were #5D, 1st against the pass, 24th against the run.
Kinda obvious where we need to improve
Matt, I have been a fan of yours for few years now. I think you are a great analyst and an admirable father (love the relationship you have with your little boy). I am truly disappointed in you politicizing this show. We all know it is you and not the show because Matt Muso took down your political prop. I am just one fan. Unfortunately, I have to unsubscribe from your channel because I disagree with your politics. I wish I just did this know your political views. That way I could still enjoy AFR. Remember, you did this. You want half an audience, so be it.
Best of luck,
X-fan
Most of the interior d-line has been rebuilt with a bunch of bandaids and rooks and they still haven't figured out who is going to be opposite Cam. There 2 best defensive players or aging quickly and its just a matter of time before father time comes a calling. Throw in the injury bug that seems to just hamper them year after year. I doubt they are better than last year, much less a top 10 D🤣🤣🤣🤣….
I think it's a pretty safe bet that they'll be better on defense. Last year against the run we were terrible, all those people are gone now, aside from Malcolm Roach, and we got a lot of talent signed and drafted there. The secondary was good enough that we finished in the top 10 in defense even playing so poorly against the run. I think BOTH starting safeties play much better this year, their second year in DAs system. We should be top 5 again with just a modest performance from the DL. If however the DL has a good year,we could do very well on D.
We have the talent Allen need to learn to coach and to be more aggressive and learn to make adjustments. Keeping Dalton in all season was a stupid decision he made 🙄
