  1. Man alive that throw by Knobloch was off by a mile. You know it was a bad throw when the 1st baseman just turned around and watched it sail into the stands lol

  2. Am I the only one who literally doesn’t care at all about athletes mental or physical health? Just make the play

  3. Ive never played baseball but i think i could hit atleast 4/10 pitches in the mlb. I cant imagine only hitting 3/10. Thats sad.

  4. I glanced at the thumbnail and thought it was about Lester's issues with pickoffs

  5. There is honestly nothing more EASY to understand than having anxiety. Especially in front of thousands of fans

  6. Not a high level baseball player but I am a high level golfer and I’ve seen players (mostly older 30+) completely lose all touch on the green. I don’t know what it is but the ability for them to make a smooth stroke disappears as soon as they have intent to hit the ball. Practice strokes are fine but as soon as the ball comes into play their brain can’t do it. Wild phenomenon

  7. Shaq was 58.2 % from the field in his career and 52.7 % from the free throw line…. stopped watching after this dumb take

  8. Then there is the case of Sandy Koufax, who had the reverse yips. In the first half of his major league career was mediocre at best due to horrendously bad control. Then suddenly in the last half of his career developed pinpoint control and was all but unhittable in the last half of his career.

  9. I remember a catcher for trhe Mets named Mackey Sasser who had problems throwing the ball back to the pitcher. It was ugly.

  10. I've experienced yips over the course of my life but never knew what to call it. My jump shot went away in basketball. Throwing darts, I would consistently hit the inner circle or bullseyes to completely missing the dart board. There's a psychological component, but also a physical one. I can feel my body tighten, it basically seizes up. It's like my mental anxiety takes my body prisoner. It's an awful feeling. I've never cured it.

  11. Yasiel Puig also was an amazing player before he developed the yips. Its a sad story, wish he was in it.

  12. Thanks for posting this video. It makes me feel a little better. I'm not at the level of these guys or even some of the commenters — I'm just an old guy who plays slow-pitch softball. I picked up the throwing yips decades ago and fought through it by just having buddies go out and throw and practice with me; repetition sort of helped. But I never had trouble hitting. Then, the year after the pandemic-canceled season, I developed the hitting yips. I mean, the ball is coming in slow motion, but I still couldn't make hard contact! I gave up after 3 games in 2021 because I was so befuddled I couldn't cope. I ended so many innings with runners on base. So I went to cognitive behavior therapy. It did no good. Last season I hardly barreled up anything. I hit great in the cage and in practice, but when the lights came on — nothing. GIDP, ending innings with ground outs. My teammates were nice about it, but I dropped to near the bottom of the lineup. This year, I'm finally breaking out of it. What did it was a laminated card I put in my pocket. I look at it in the on-deck circle, and it reminds me of mechanics and reminds me to breathe. I'm not all the way back yet, but the signs are there. I know for elite athletes, it's not that simple, but I'm glad I may be finally out of the fog!

  13. Shaq shot about 60 from the field lol terrible free throw shooter though. But also, great video 👌

  14. The yips are no joke, truly wild phenomenon that a surprising number of ballplayers suffer from. Best way I could describe it is it feels like a panic attack every time you pick up the ball – couldn't even feel the ball on my fingers. I was able to overcome it, but it was brutal and almost killed my love for the game entirely.

  15. Hit me junior year high school. Winter workouts in a gym doing bullpens next to people and I sailed a pitch. Bounced off the wall and hit my other coach catching in the back of the head. After that I couldn’t throw a ball to save my life. No matter long toss, making plays, felt like I never played the spirt

  16. Hayden Hurst is a good example of "when a door closes, a window opens." got the yips after being drafted to the mlb (17th rd) out of high school. he had turned down a scholarship to pitch at florida state. tried for a couple years with no success. but was able to pivot to football and walk on at south carolina to play tight end. got drafted in the 1st rd and has had a modestly successful career in the nfl since.
