Today we’re talking to Eric Oakley about the specifics of his forehand form. This is part 3 of our conversation with him.

Eric’s physics of flight forehand tutorial video was super helpful to me. I think the “follow through forward first” advice really resonated. I rewatch it sometimes when my flick feels like it’s losing distance/ accuracy.
Overall, good stuff.
From my research of baseball pitching…The stride length is correlated with the linear force generated by the back leg. Big power, big stride.
The back hip rotation is not related to stride length. The better the final push of the back leg, the piston like action, where the shin is parallel to the ground and the calf muscle is pushing forward, determines the hip drive.
This is beautiful form. A tad more drive forward from the back leg will drive that hip more forward and add more velocity.
What can limit the forward hip motion is a lack of mobility in the stride position.
Instead of shortening his stride, he is better served by increasing his strength and mobility at the maximum stride position.
It takes specialized training to have both force and mobility while in a big stride state. These are the things pros focus on to stay on top.
Form is limited at the extremes by the limits of strength and mobility of a person's body.
Form strength and mobility are interdependent variables.
Josh looking GOOD man.
His form is ass! That's why he cant keep a sponser
Josh I thought it was worth mentioning that the science behind why you and Eric Oakley's methodology for the forehand and really the overall disc golf throw is the most effective. The nervous systems number one goal is to protect you from danger. When the typical disc golfer tries to throw as hard as he can, he or she will often trigger the fight response (from the fight or flight) of the nervous system, where all the muscles go into extension and whatever coordination your subconscious mind had at that point is no longer a priority. When you lift weights the nervous system responds to the stress put on your muscles by increasing the amount of mitochondria needed for this specific muscle being worked out (or more muscle in layman terms), disc golf is no different. The progress you make may not be aesthetically it apparent, but when you take the time to constantly attune your nervous system to higher and higher speeds, whether it's backhand or forehand, in my opinion when people look at your form it looks effortless because you're nervous system is not inhibiting your coordination
I like to FH flat FDs, idk about D line FDs though
I still haven't found a Dynasty that looks or flies like a CD2
One of your players? You own a Disc Golf Team?
Do you need slow motion for patron form reviews? I am worried my phones camera will not capture adequate footage
Can't forhand after baseball workouts/practice my forehand hurts my elbow probably form issue
did yall stop making videos
i dont see you talk about chest angle much like i feel like ones chest should be pointing forward not slightly up correct? i feel like chest up = nose up and flat chest moving forward should = flat shot moving forward no?
