The Minnesota Vikings CLEARLY intend to move on from veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins after the 2023 season. They have not extended his contract and have made it blatantly obvious they’re doing work on the quarterbacks in the Draft. Even with all that, Kirk has handled the situation well.

Ummm, he doesn't get to go to 1 voluntary Ota and all of a sudden get praise. He's doing it about 4 yrs too late. Idc if he has 1 play caller or 100. He still is NOT a leader, and if you think you can shrug off the 4th and 8 play and say he didn't lose that game you're a fool. The short term extension are beneficial for both sides Kirk gets more Money the Vikes get good QB play until they got the successor like KC with Smith. No need to rush things for both sides?

Class act. Chances are he will be here next year too and will be paid more than he could have if we extended him. I hope we find a franchise guy this year but the odds are not good that is what happens.

I'd hope so, the rigidity of a fully guaranteed deals and his age appears to be expediting the new regimes approach to move on.
Cant blame a player for trying to get their money, but it just makes it tough in a salary cap league.
With that said, totally agree that he's handling it well. If he's not traded in a crazy (and unlikely) scenario I hope he balls out and gets paid next year when he hits FA as the vikes get younger and cheaper at QB going forward.
If there is one thing everyone can agree on, it's that Kirk is a true professional.

Wild, first time in my memorable life the vikings will for sure have the best qb in the nfc north and thier immediate response is to make sure that will not remain the case a quickly as possible
I mean he's in a good spot regardless. Even if we draft QB of the future(which we should) he knows he will still start this year. And if he plays good football again, a team will sign him to be a starter next year

You nailed it Jeromes, there is a reason Diggs and Jefferson broke out so quickly. they are both immensely talented but the QB is the other big part of the equation. Unless, by some miracle, Richardson or Hooker fall far enough that we are able to trade for one of them I think Kirk is our QB for at least the next 2 years. I think it would take either of those guys 3 years to get to Kirk's level anyways, if they got there at all. They both have a higher ceiling maybe but are they going to have the durability, the discipline or the smarts af a Kirk Cousins?
Again, Kirk is all about the money. He understands that acting like a man baby would be detrimental to his future contracts. He won’t do anything to jeopardize his paycheck moving forward but we will see what happens if the Vikings draft a QB high

I have lots of respect for Cousins and if we could more confident in him on winning us a championship I think no one would have an issue with Kirk getting another contract extension.
But he's been getting paid big money for not being able to get us beyond wild card playoffs! Something has to change!
