Big takeaway for me is that to move low point of swing arc forward you must rotate open the chest to start the downswing that brings lead shoulder back and behind you. To bring LPOSA even further forward, pushing your hands further forward enables this result. I would add that the key to better rotation is to ensure one closes the gap between the upper right arm and the body (ribs, right hip , right side of chest whatever you may call it) as you shift pressure to the lead side to start the down swing.
May be why Jack Nicklaus played the ball forward in his stance. Just a thought.
I tend to thin the ball with my mid – longer irons…but have recently found that " aiming " for a spot a few inches ahead of my ball ( usually center of stance ) often helps make solid contact ….why ?
With no ball I make consistent low point contact just brushing the ground at the same point. When a ball is added the strike is thin with no ground contact even if I concentrate on a spot inches ahead of the ball. Same result if the ball is placed back, middle or forward in the setup.
Trying to contact further forward causes lateral motion rather than rotation. Rotation moves the shoulder back, away from the ball–thinning the shot.
What am I missing?
golf is truly the Devil’s work. Like trying to find the corner in a round room.
Brilliant
Whatever tip is given by pro’s, pro coaches or good amateurs golf simply is not an easy game and there certainly are no quick fixes. It is a skill and takes hours and hours of practice and competition. Some are lucky to have superior learning skills especially hand eye coordination but most of us will struggle. This is why the average club handicap just doesn’t get lower. Persevere.
I kept waiting for the point. Couldn't make it through the entire video.
