Posting a similar comment I put on MrShortGame’s video clarifying some things.
Just to clear up any confusion. It’s not that we don’t want to be there and participate but we truly don’t have space in our schedule. We think this is going to be a tremendous event and we had a great time with Rick last year and wish him nothing but the best with this tournament.
We’ve had a lot of big things planned for months before we ever heard about the Masters. Our June thru October has a lot of amazing things planned that we can’t wait to share. Including going to the UK in July and hopefully spending some time with Rick then.
The Ryder Cup style event is something we’ve been planning for a long time and haven’t wanted to announce until we had solid information which we feel we do. We wanted all the European creators to participate as well. We haven’t had much information about the Masters just as Rick hasn’t had much from us about the Ryder Cup. I don’t believe both events overlap in timing but other things on our schedule are preventing us from making a 2nd trip to the UK this year.
When we travel for content we have anywhere from 10-12 people with us and scheduling is a massive undertaking that we do months and months in advance. Not only do we deal with the group schedules but we also work with everyone’s personal schedules so you can imagine how difficult this is.
Just because we can’t make this first event work doesn’t mean it will never sync up for everyone. The YouTube golf community has grown tremendously in a short amount of time and there will be plenty more of these great opportunities in the near future and we are more than willing to help organize or attend when possible.
Sounds like Rick Schiels needs to get his plans out sooner.
So good good and their " manager" jacked rick shiels idea?
YT Golf has gotten so big and so busy for some. Announcing anything 2-3 months out isn't ideal anymore for fan or creator events. If these guys haven't done so already, there should be a invite only forum page or at least a group text between all the top golf channels on YT for events just like this that are planned 8-9 or more months out.
Now granted, Rick has yet to say when the event will take place and hell, maybe while GG is in the UK in July as Matt posted in the pinned comment, it happens then. But the days of just throwing something together with short notice on a date are pretty much gone and I hope the boys figure something out going forward for events next year.
No good good but maybe gm golf?
They think there’s bigger than Rick 😂😂
Ever hear of brodie smith nate? Look him up
Seems like its becoming a dickswinging contest of who flinches first.
Yes it's great to have all these creators working together, but everyone has to protect their unique brand. Do their own thing without having to worry about other creators schedule.
I’ll take their place. 😂
It’s kinda sad that one of the biggest YouTube channels isn’t going to the YouTube masters
GG will be in for a massive ego check if they try and run a tournament close to Rick's. I'm sure they'll still get plenty of views from the high school boys who have a Matt Scharf poster on their wall and proudly wear a GG hat their Step dad bought them for their last birthday, but if the big creators have to choose, they're going to pick Rick.
There is no way on earth mat
Matt Kendrick or GoodGood would let any of the good good vs grant or micah content land anywhere but on a channel they control. It is unfortunate but only makes sense
That's weak sauce. "We cant change our schedule" is straight up lame… The Good Good take this whole time has been they only film one easy week a month and the guys are free to do as they wish. There is more to this then a schedule conflict… Big Respect!
If GG is only scheduled 1 week of the month, and they have supposed 3 weeks of freedom.. why wouldn’t Rick just invite the boys individually if MK won’t allow space for any of the 12 GG weeks? All the boys have big enough individual channels 🤷♂️
who cares GG wants all the spot light ( boy band of youtube golf )
Yeah you definitely jumped the gun way too quick..got our hopes up just to be crushed 😭
And so the politics begins…..when you get to big to fast, you forget the people who helped you get there. This was suppose to be for the viewers who made you so "famous" you see the excitement for this event that has been created and you have better things to do instead of showing to what people really want to see. I'm sure you will be looking forward to hosting your own "Ryder Cup style" event and will want other YouTube golfers to participate in your event when you of course control every aspect of the content. Sad when its all about the money, when it supposedly started out about the best golf content. I'm sure 2v2v2 lava challenge will be much more interesting.
Maybe as a whole, Good Good will not be there… however, maybe one or two members of them will show up to participate.
Let’s perhaps keep in mind that Good Good Week is scheduled months in advance, the guys have 3 weeks every month to do what they want and I think it’s very possible you could see 2-3 guys from GG show up at the YT Masters?
They are the fastest growing and MOST influential YouTube Golf channel. They travel heavy for camera angles and players plus significant others. They are probably scheduled until 2024. People need to realize how many things are coming up for Good Good. They are scaling peoduction to be able to sell retail with Golf Galaxy. They have trips and offers planned that may be as big or bigger than what Rick does just because of their reach. Why should they cancel what they will believe be a big deal for someone else's big deal at the last second? All these people are selfish and just want to add their own narrative. Here's an idea. Plan it longer in advance and invite the biggest guys on the platform earlier than 3 months. Y'all realize they do one week a month and you dont think its not planned out 6-8 months in advance with the course sometimes shutting down to host them?
There are plenty of other yt golf channels. Good good doesn't have to participate for it to be great. Rick Shiels has been in the game for a long time , it will still be awesome. Good good is a company amd has a crazy schedule, things like this have to be planned out years / month ahead
call it a "community" all you want, it's not… its a business. all the videos except 1 with GG and Rick were featured on Rick's channel. Rick got millions more views than GG for that week. obviously because he has a bigger following but he also made 1 video with every member of GG that's 5 more videos than GG got from the trip with Rick. so the question is, what would GG stand to gain from playing in another channels golf tournament? probably not much
Good good thinks there to big! if they aren’t hosting it, they won’t be there is my assumption. Kinda lame but Honestly besides Kwon and Rat it’s not really that big of a deal
Are YouTubers trying to be golfers now? Or golfers trying to be YouTubers? This line is getting blurred by guys like Luke Kwon. Do we really want serious competition from failed professional golfers, or YouTubers? I kinda thought the whole drama of pretending it’s serious golf was fun, if it turns into serious golf , bye bye fun and bye bye to a lot of egos. Stick to fun I’d say, even in these tournaments. Who knows? YouTubers are powerful
Rick should call his the YouTube Open and there should be some kind of cup or jug as the trophy. Good Good should do the YouTube Masters and there should be a powder blue jacket. They should switch between the two every couple years for the YouTube Ryder cup.
I support Good Good and Matt Kendrick. It would be great if the two groups Rick and Good Good could make it work, but there still isn't even a date for the event yet. You can't expect a brand as big as Good Good to put everything on hold for an event that isn't even scheduled yet. I think that anyone who is attacking Good Good, or especially Matt Kendrick are not being realistic. If these events are going to work than it will take a lot of interaction and planning between the biggest Golf YouTube brands.
What you are all forgetting is that neither Micah or Grant participated in the Good Good Championship recently. The initial thought or theory from a lot of people is that they didn't want to work with Good Good. Grant in particular stated he had scheduling conflicts. Is that a lie or are the biggest golf YouTube channels committed to their own development and can't stop everything at the drop of a hat?
As these brands continue to grow it will become more and more difficult to bring them all together. That is just the reality of the situation. Unlike the PGA or LIV tour, the players on YouTube are tied to their channels. Booking out locations and planning the production of events needs to scheduled far in advance.
I would love to see a YouTube golf tour, but it has to be independent of the YouTube channels participating in it.
@nateedwardson You are essential in this space, you are the independent voice of YouTube golf. You need to be everywhere for the big events. I want the behind the scenes, the energy of the event. I think that you should be granted more access to film some of the event and to show it. Of course without giving away the crescendo, but working to build the energy of the moment for all the viewers.
Just my opinion, but continue to hate on Matt Kendrick and Good Good if you want.
