Big fan of all the Orange Whip products. They also have a great fitness and swing training program. The wedge, the putter, the original Orange Whip, the Lightspeed, the Power Peel with the power bands are all worthwhile for coaches and their students. Got all of them.
All great for rhythm, tempo, timing, swing path and for curing common swing faults.
Whether warming up before a round or used for training they are excellent and very intuitive to use.
Nice video, it is working looks much better. I gave myself the tips with chipping so I know what having anxiety over a shot is like. Worked my way out of it
Hey Dan – I watched one of the 1st videos that you and Joe the Pro mentioned the Orange Whip wedge, then again I saw the video where Joe the Pro said to Channel the Orange Whip. I went out and got myself one as chipping around the greens and shots from 100 yards and in is not good. I don't usually buy training aids I see mentioned in videos but Orange Whip has been around for awhile so there must be something to the concept. As you said, for $119 USD I too figured I'd at least give it a try. My initial impressions of the Orange Whip Wedge are positive, I do believe that it will help my short game improve over time as long as I put in the work. Thanks to you and Joe the Pro for bringing this to my attention.
Grip:
Index and middle fingers loose/ lightly gripping. Mainly gripping the wedge with ring finger and baby finger
Releasing grip at bottom of down/forward swing
Dropping the club onto the back of the ball.
I challenge any of your pros to a short game /round the green comp
Ernie els
How would you use the orange whip for chip shots around the green?
Good video. Montgomery has excellent tempo.
You could've just used one of clubs they look like similar flex 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤮
Ernie Els
Well done Dan, I made the first step by looking for help, look forward to seeing your improvement ⛳
Interesting video. I’m not into any of these “gimmick” clubs. However, if it works for someone, all well and good.
I’m doing something really more like the old Ledbetter triangle & is working great. Pitching, well, I’ve move to a de-acceleration shot which has helped. Hang in there Dan!
I would consider the original Orange Whip tempo trainer to be the best training aid I've ever purchased. First time I ever used it on the range before a round, 10 swings with it and I was my driver straighter than I ever had.
I have that Orange Whip Wedge, as well as the Orange Whip Putter. I don't practice with those as much as I ought to, but having rotator cuff surgery in 2 weeks that will keep me out of action for 6-8 months, and I should be fit enough to practice with those a few months before I'm able to use "real" clubs. Of course, the Quacks have final say.
I own the original orange whip and it’s genuine the only training I have ever seen that’s works fantastic
"Who wants an Orange Whip? Orange Whip? Orange Whip? Three Orange Whips."
Sounds like the feel of the Orange Whip aligns with your "hitting the ball" vs. "collecting the ball" instruction. I recently connected the tendency of right shoulder taking over my swing to a subconscious need to hit the golf ball – anxious to make contact rather, especially after fat/thin shots.
I've explained that to the dozen or two instructors I've seen over the years (admittedly, most not for more than 1 lesson), and no one has offered a lasting solution to my right trail shoulder getting ahead of my body turn. If one had brought out his Orange Whip – ON COURSE when after my collapse begins – and forced me to make contact with that device, it seems like the connection between anxiety about contact and rushed tempo may have been firmly demonstrated.
I've found that many times, golf swing instructors have THEIR way of explaining an issue and its resolution, but that way doesn't click for my brain. Only once I see another video – like this one would have been maybe 3 weeks ago – or figure it out for myself, can I look back and realize "oh, THAT'S what the instructor meant!"
This has happened for me on more than one occasion with your instructional content, Dan. Hopefully the Orange Whip adds to your teaching repertoire.
Content idea: Teaching the same issue resolution but through multiple explanations/techniques, and offer up a YouTube poll to see which tip makes sense to which portion of viewers.
Hi Dan a very useful video great to see a traing aid that actually works did they give you any drills with it
When I began flight instruction I had a natural affinity for it and my instructor said I was a born pilot. But soon, my head became full of ground achool calculations, FAA regs and restrictions, logging requirements, etc so that I began to lose that natural feel for what I was doing. The same happened in my golf game. Now I am deconstructing everything and going back to relaxed tempo and simple club head feel. Thanks for reinforcing how important this is for outcome and enjoyment.
I think a lot of ”handsy” players would benefit from this. We rely heavily on timing for a lot of our shots and this club for sure would help with that I think. You’ll soon be back to pitching and chipping like you can Dan and with pals like Joe and James offering sound advice, you’re in a good place 👌
Tempo… Joe the Pro! He reminds me of Fred Couples. I really like both of these gentlemens swingtempo
Great tempo? Jordan Smith DP World Tour Pro is someone to watch. Hopefully he makes this year’s Ryder Cup too
😊another 5 minute wonder 😂
Great review/Vlog Dan!
Love it all!!!
I watch Luke Donald, Adam Scott and Freddie Couples they personify tempo to me. I used a whippy training club and it did my head in, so I just thinkof the 3 players just mentioned and start breathing slowly and it sometimes works for me. If its one of those days where the world has got to me then just enjoy the course and the views and hope tempo returns the next time out and hope for serendipity
It looks like you're trying to hit at the ball, a lot of right hand. I don't know what teacher said it, but he said try to think of collecting the ball. I try to count 1 and 2 with all my swings and putting stroke.
Mr. Ben Hogan He was the best next to Bobby Jones on Tempo…Also lap shot has clubs that work like that too..
Luke Donald
Have always thought tempo was and is the most important thing to key on. When I have mine in control it's a very good swing. For a 14 handicapper. When I'm quick I pull left when it's to slow or lazy as you say I slice. But no when it's right I don't miss many fairways. Thanks Dan for that very good tempo reminder
For tempo you mentioned the man Ernie Els So fluid and easy
Stan Uttley the US short game guru developed that club with the original Orange Whip inventor Jim Hackenberg
VJ. Couples Els
