My swing speed is only about 85mph. 62 years old. Pretty flexible, make a decent turn. What is your opinion on The One Club training aid to develop speed?
Brilliant Shawn thanks
That’s awesome Shawn, I wonder if the same “one hammer plane” approach applies to irons?
So you mentioned using a 44 inch driver … once we’re into the 105-110 mph swing speed is having that extra 1-2 inches on the driver not necessary for more distance and dispersion or is it just for more accuracy without much loss of distance just curious.
Great stuff, and good luck Sav.
Loved this one. Can’t wait to try this. Does this also apply to shorter irons and wedge shots?
When I hook it with my strong grip and closes face it’s because my focus left the target
One of the most useful golf youtube channels.
Sav has really evolved! Interesting that you (or Nancy Lopez’s coach back in the day) resisted changing their swings.
That long driver shaft must really flex, would be interesting to see it in super slow motion:) That said, what is your feeling about shaft flex at impact in relation to heel toe? In other words should the toe be raised slightly at address (for all clubs) to compensate for shaft flex at impact where a flattening of the sole of the club occurs?
Great lesson, can’t wait to try it out. So you are just raising your hands up a little bit at address? Would you recommend hovering the club just a bit as well?
Interesting was doing a drill with a tennis raquet and realised how that position is basically a forehand position in tennis
thank you Shawn, you've helped me a lot!!
Juli Inkster also had this move. Played with her once and she was incredible, straight and long!
Shawn, you are the best, most knowledgeable, clearest, warmest and most watchable of them all.
“This is strong and snappy” past two time I have been out , I have all of a sudden been hit with a hook which cost me the first few holes of each round. I have been setting up incorrectly exactly like you mentioned at 6:40 . Great video as always
You say Sav is getting stronger. Is this because of the speed training or working out with My?

Shawn, you have one really weird swing, club is up over your head, miles away from the plane but hey, it works….
Hi Shawn, hope everybody is well. I would appreciate a new Video about the foot work during the swing. I think it is important to emphasize what the feet and legs do during the hitting moment. I think you promote that they stay flat on the ground?
If I lift the trail foot too early I hit shanks.
Thank you!
Thank you for this video. Unfortunately over the past several years I've gone from having a slice to more of a draw/hook. I'm happy with the draw but not when the ball goes 27 yards offline. So I'm going to give this a whirl in my simulator this evening.
I was one of the ones who started hooking everything after using a strong grip. I resisted the urge to go back to a neutral grip even though my irons were missing all the greens! I noticed in older videos that Sav was raising her hands at the beginning of her takeaway so I tried it and it was amazing! My irons went higher and straighter plus I was hitting crisper shots and the sound at impact was beautiful. I thought that maybe I shouldn't be doing this because it looks a bit strange but the results were so good I have kept doing it. Thanks for addressing this in this video.
A year or so ago I started utilizing a very small tweak to the very start of my back swing (Thank you @PaulWilsonGolf) where I emulate a slight dragging motion, almost as though the club is too heavy. This was intended to keep my arms relaxed, and it did(!!). I see this particular video and the lightbulb went off, my little drag also raised my hands slightly, which provided amazing results. I now know why… and it does 2 things for me, it relaxes my arms and also puts the shaft in an ideal location for my body motion. 🤌
Yes, was playing another inconsistent round of golf when on the back nine tee box, I remembered the swing thought of hammering the nail and slightly rotated my grip to slightly stronger. Hit a Bomb! Outdrove my buddies by 50 yds! Picturing Sav’s effortless swing is the key. Thanks!
What is the key to avoid a hook with this grip? Thanks for your tip.
I've been watching your videos for years now. This one was of extra interest to me but I failed to follow what the differences were. it may just be me and I may need to just watch it again. Thanks as always for helping out us regular guys.
