This WILL RUIN GOLF! The NEW GOLF BALL For The 2024 Rules!?

  1. There is no distance problem other than dumb American based course architects who are desperate to host an elite tournament on their course and build an unplayble (for the average joe and more) 8000+ yard course.

  2. It would be interesting to have The Average golfer do a side by side comparison along with you two. Will there be as much or more difference between the balls with a slower swing speed?

  3. It won’t ruin golf James. What will ruin golf is Augusta having to buy more land to extend the tournament tees further. Do you know that the Masters tees are nearly 1,100 yards further now over 18 holes than the members tees? It just can’t keep going like that mate

  4. Golf ball tech, for sure. I game a 20 year old Cobra driver because I can't afford a modern 'mini' driver (I prefer something in the 400cc range) and I hit it just as far as my Rogue.

  5. Does the rule golf ball only apply to professional golfers?? I’m a 19 handicap player and not a big hitter probably longest drive 220ish yards also I’m 70

  6. Are they on about doing this only for top players in tournaments, or for everyone? I can't afford to lose distance. I'm not a big hitter.

  7. Im just fine with the new rule. Tiger always played a ball with high spin because he could control it better. Golf will benefit with this rule. Now we don't have to watch drive wedge on every hole. Also we might see some guys with swings speeds around 110 being able to compete. The harder you hit it the more it spins.

  8. I don't think they roll it back. The tours, players and manufacturers can easily just say 'no'.

  9. I'm calling a penalty! Second hole, Chris grounded his 7 wood.. re-watch slow-mo

  10. Think its a terrible idea , understand they can't keep increasing tees but they wnt have too , drivers have now reached legal limits and players fitness etc has peaked to a large extent , it's only been such a big issue because it was unfit players using tiny steel or wood drivers ..games been maximised to the rules now and should settle for years to come

  11. I don’t think it will set the pros and better golfers back any. 8 yards difference in both iron and driver is not that big of deal for you guys, because of skill set. In my opinion it’s a combination of technology in both clubs and balls that make it go further.

  12. I think the “professional “ ball will just filter down to the amateur game because we want to play the same ball as the pro's really

  13. Instead of changing the ball the PGA needs to outlaw driver technology and relegate the players to use persimmons. Professional baseball players aren't allowed to use metal bats, so professional golfers shouldn't be allowed to use metal drivers. That will save the game. Jack Nicklaus drove the ball 360 yards with a persimmon….

  14. I really don't care what ball they use because every player will have the same handicap. What I am curious about is whether the older tour players will be competitive again. Also curious if players will hit more fairways and greens as presumably an off target strike is not compounded by the extra distance of the new balls finishing further off target. It's the age old adage, distance vs. accuracy. If you are a great player can you overcome the accuracy disadvantage with much greater distance? But is that true if you are an average player?

  15. You should have used a launch monitor on the course to make sure swing speed, face contact and spin were close to the same to test for statistical significance. I found an old fautless golf ball from the 1970's and hit against a ProV1 that I found – both were in fair condition. Center strike on each ball resulted in good distance and ball flight trajectory and dispersion was close to each other. I did this in a grass field and did not mark off yardage or use a launch monitor but both balls when hit properly performed good. Maybe on the golf course, I would have noticed more of a difference. I don't know how old the Prov1 was but it"s safe to say there was a 30 year range between each ball. I don't think the new rule will have a SIGNIFICANT difference in distance performance.
