  1. After reading several articles from unnamed members, the average person can afford dues at Augusta. The club gets their prestige from the selection process of members. It’s not as opulent as Mar A Lago or some Hampton course. It’s sort of like the Hells Angels: if you have to ask how to get in, you’re already out.

  2. Bill Gates once offered over a Million Dollars, back in the 90s, and they told him NO! It’s invitation ONLY!

  3. You have to be invited.
You have to keep a bank account with 150k in it at all times.
When the account dips below that number you have to put in what it takes to maintain that balance.

  4. I read the initiation fee just a few years ago was only 25k. The club makes over 60 million a year in television rights and commercials.

  5. It’s only $30K, and about $1000/month in dues. They don’t care about those. They make money from merch sold during Masters week and TV rights. However, you need to be extremely wealthy and ‘famous’ to be invited to join.

  6. Gotta be invited, 300 member cap. Wait list, then members interview process. The whole nine yards. Look up the back story to why Sage Valley Golf Club was built.

  7. I live in Agusta and I have grown up with the master and know a good bit of members people have to me invited and when they need somthing all the members donate to get it

  8. Born and raised in augusta, still live here. NO ONE even thinks about going up there. Not even the 12 residents in the city that play golf even consider the Augusta national.

  9. Fun fact. To be invited to be a member, you have to be from same state as the previous member you’re replacing. Augusta has strict rules about members and where they are from.

  10. Oh well if we're just making shit up… I know the guy that collects the range balls. He can get you in on what they call a whack a mole membership. Augusta has for as long as anyone can recall had an infestation of moles. The way the membership works is this. Whack 10 moles a year. Membership renewed. It's pretty simple. Those buggers are quick though! I managed to whack 3 during my un official course record 51. That was in the late summer of 49. I had Ben Hogan on the bag. Look, don't think you have to clarify any of this. I can vouch for all of it. That's enough these days. I say it's true. It's true

  11. Be very wealthy, have a lot of power. Most members seem to be heads of industry – oil, tech etc

  12. This guy has no fucking clue what he’s talking about. I’m by Pine Valley and it’s similar in that it’s invitations, it’s it a crazy high number and you’re not expected to donate millions. Garbage

  13. Im from augusta and ive always been told its a million dollar buy in but its for your whole family kind of thing but its a very strict area

  14. These dudes literally have no idea what they are talking about lmao. The ignitiaion fee hovers around 40,000 dollars, the catch is there’s only 300 members and they are hand selected by Augusta National.

  15. That guy who said otherwise we’d be there, clearly over estimates his worth 😂

  16. A simple google search would tell you it’s pretty cheap… if you’re a baller… $40,000 to become a member and $7,000-$9,000 a year added on.. I’m assuming for repairs 🤷🏻‍♂️ alls I know is that’s extremely cheap!! There’s courses of not even close to the quality of Augusta that are double that near where I live

  17. It's actually cheaper than most private clubs. They had a member leak his number years ago and it was shockingly cheap. They make so much money off the tournament they don't need dues.

  18. 200 thousand a year but unless your the president and you got min net worth of 300 million you ain’t getting inn 🤷‍♂️

  19. I know a member but he gets hit up like crazy and when he stepped down as CEO of the company they asked him for an insane amount to stay a member.

  20. Amazing how much shite is commented on here. The initiation fee + monthly dues really isn’t that expensive, especially considering the wealth of the members. You will, as a member, be paying for any upgrades to the course, new equipment etc as part of your membership. Completely renovating the clubhouse for $10m? That’ll be X amount please everyone. You absolutely only get invited to be a member and even then go through the whole process of joining, interviews, play with other members, secretary, chairman etc and then, maybe they’ll let you join. If you ask to be a member, to either the club itself or a current member, you’re immediately blackballed. RSG is a 4 yr process, you need to be proposed by 1 member and 2nd and 3rd by 2 other members and if the club find any dirt on you, a. You wouldn’t get in and b. The main proposer would be kicked out (although they’ve relaxed this in more recent years) Good luck basically 😂

  21. man i live in augusta just wanna say fucj the masters i hate that shit and fuck all the people who come and don’t know how to drive 😂😂 got 200 thousand dollar cars and don’t even know how to drive it

  22. It’s a ton of money up front but after that the monthly fee is cheap. But they can only play a few months of the year because they try to keep the course in such great shape. Painted fairways and the sand isn’t even sand. It’s ground quarts

  23. When you ask someone how much something is and they say “it dosent work that way” then you know you can’t afford it.. 😂

  24. I’ve been there working, it’s beautiful, there’s honestly no place like it. I’m sure the golf is cool and all but the detail of every blades of grass, shrub and tree is spectacular.
