That's a crazy stat
Agreed. I’m a 3.1 and if you played with me you would NOT be impressed.
The skill gap between me and pros is nearly incalculable.
Getting Up and Down in the range of 175 to 225 Yards is much harder than just bombing your drive down the fairway. Tiger said a few years ago that 5 iron into the green he would take anyone on. Never heard an amateur say that:-)
Mark, how short a course do you think an 18 handicap golfer would have to play to shoot around par?
I'm 16.2, buddy is a 4, we hit same distance & abt same amnt of FW's. He owns me inside 125yds. Wedge & putter is everything.
Speak for yourself Mark I'm bloody brilliant (sometimes) 🙏😅😅😅😅😅😅😅👍
Go to a tournament on a weds and see them practicing different shots and approach’s… pulling off shots at will… then you’ll realize the 1,000s of hours you need to put in to be half decent….and just the sound the Pros clubs make when they hit the ball…. Some of these guys are literally machines
I'm definitely as good has I think I am …I think I'm not that good 😢
I just holed out for an eagle from 70 yards on a par 5. First ever eagle. Buzzing.
Well a handicap of 5 would still put you in the Top 10% of all golfers in the world, so its all a matter of perspective…..
I wished I hit my driver 300 yards I hit my driver 220yds And my 7 iron 140yds max😢
Huh. How good do we think we are lol
Totally agree with your piece Mark.
Does that not beg the accuracy / validity of the new handicap system which is throwing up huge vagaries in club competitions?
Would love to hear your thoughts.
Have we got a lot of 5 handicaps thinking they are as good as tour pro’s then? I’ve never heard anyone say that.🤷🏻♂️
I call it a win if I make it round without losing more than 2 balls…
Distance is not the problem, it's direction 😂
Been playing golf for 18 years. I've come to realize that a 13 hdcp is not bad for a weekend golfer. I played a round with a college golfer and was amazed to see him score a 76. I asked if he was turning pro and he said … "I'm not good enoug." A top pro can score below par 4 rounds a week every week on a golf course up to 7k yards while walking.
There is always someone bigger and badder somewhere…. I try and stay humble and just enjoy the game. And lend a hand to someone who wants the advice.
Comparing yourself to a PGA player is dumb
