Kap is jacked after the Cubs found a way to walk off the Mariners on Monday. Leading 2-1 in the 9th, Seattle’s Jared Kelenic hit a monster HR off of Michael Fulmer. After pitching out of a jam in the 10th, Nico Hoerner recorded his 3rd hit of the night, a walkoff single scoring Nick Madrigal who had stolen 3rd, and the Cubs move a game over .500. Kap says the key to the night though was starter Drew Smyly. Roughed up in his first start, Smyly bounced back with an outstanding curveball and 7 strikeouts in 5 innings.

Kap, with new shift rules giving value to contact guys, doesn't this offense seem more potent to you? Esp. Hoerner & Madrigal.
Also, if pitching can match this most of the year, i can see a plus .500 team
Didn't like the game tying homer or the all or nothing home run approach in the 9th, but glad Nico and Madrigal got the job done in the 10th to get the W. I thought Smyly could have gone 6, but team wins are more important.
Cubs need to get another LH pitcher in bullpen. Cubs just have to win series..
