Hate hate the sprints full stop âŠâŠ only place it might work is Monaco and thatâs only because the race is so boring there âŠâŠ but even at Monaco I would hate how much attention it would take away from qualifying
This seemed like nothing more than a fluff session for F1 plans to change the format, full backing for Domenicali presumably on the grounds of not rocking the boat and keeping the rights. Did no-one see the irony in promoting the idea of 24/25 races next year with a new format sprint weekend at every one, while also arguing that the sanctity of the Sunday GP be preserved? The only reason for this proposal is to make more money for F1, to push people to pay for 3 full days and raise the prices for the Friday. And no thought for the teams, engineers and mechanics spending weeks on the road often with triple headers to fit that many race in.
They forget one thing there not driving.
I HATE Sprint & the Dramatization of the sport. Money Above All, Evil đżđ€đ
Iâd love to see every weekend a sprint race weekend, especially for over seaâs viewers we have more to view on Friday and Saturday. Instead of just waiting for Sunday to stay up till 1am for the race.
Take away a practice session and make more of qualifying. Also stop having random 2-3 week breaks 4-5 times a season on top of the summer break. If you did a race a week with a 2 week break at some point you could make the season more compelling. It would shorten the season while keeping the same amount of races and you have racing every weekend.
If Max doesn't want to do sprint races then let Danny Ric do the sprints and Max do the GP?
the bottom line is – the races are too long. You know by halfway who is going to win. Cut them in half. Have two. Try a few things – we can always go back
please can you put chapters in the video so i can easily skip the token female. Thx
F1 is clearly. The worst motorsport on the planet now. Sick of watching fake drama and drs drive bys. Absolutely nothing entertaining about listening to pundits moan about track limits and safety.
This format changes a lot, which is good for the show, more racing action yes. Less practices means there is a chance for the good drivers to shine rather than the team to work about the best for the drives. I would like to tweak this format like this Friday(Free Practice, Sprint Qualifying), Saturday(Sprint race, GP Qualifying) Sunday (race).
Why don't you the broadcasters to the fans with a named vote yes or no to sprint races . Or leave it the way it is now and not had any more sprint races leave it to the ones that are paying the bills the fans. After all that is what racing is about. Just one person's opinion. đ
Watching the carnage the other day in the F1 crashes that went on. Surely something has got to be done with the tyres to keep the drivers safe.?? Keep the cars on the track?
Great – change it up or bin it….
If Max leaves the sport? So what!
Qualify on Friday for the Grand Prix. Then qualify for the sprint race on Saturday with the sprint race ONLY counting for the Constructors points. This then becomes a true team race with the possibility of drivers having to work together.
I think people are mistaking how serieus Max is about this. I mean he will probably serve his redbull contract, right. But after that, if he is not having fun, he is gone. đ
With reverse grids you could tie it to how many cars you pass thatâs how many points you get. Very complicated but it could be fun. 10 slowest cars get 1 to 10 points which if they are passed they lose points. With the fastest cars from the back of the grid; every car they pass the gain a point. So going from the back all the way to the front you could get 20 points đ
I don't condone this cancel culture nor do I want to see anyone out of a job but can we talk about Simon?!
I genuinely believe he applied for the wrong job and got it by accident
Why is Jess Mcfadyen on an F1 podcast?…is this some gender-diversity box-ticking reason?…(similar to why Sky got rid of Johnny Herbert?)
Surely this is all about money, if there is more action on 3 days as opposed to 2 days, more people will go to the track, spend money etc.., I think entertainment is the Bi product
SIMON LESBAIN
Its a pointless addition. Id rather F1 left it alone. But if you have to reduce practice sessions It would be better if you dropped it to a two day event and added more races. Why are you changing it for the new viewers? leave tradition or add real value !!!
Skysports F1 was not complaining about anything when hammy was winning easily with a dominant car for 7 years……… now they don't like anything
WHY?
If you want a show, watch F1. If you want a race, watch MotoGP. Also regulation changes ruin racing, I mean it's so obvious. It gets close and then they change it. Just leave it alone.
Its very stupid to think for the comments of RedBull that they are what they are now just because they are winning. 1st of all its just 4 races done out of 22 and with the sanctions they have they'll be suffering by the summer and with the updates the other teams will bring mainly Ferrary and AM, but also even Mercedes (and Mercedes will work for AM just because their hatred for RedBull is so great they dont want them to get away even if this means helping another team, well, helping yes but actually R&D-ing parts for themselves, anyway..).. And 2nd all this is valid for everyone else so if now RB is winning next year Ferrari or Mercedes or whoever will be in this situation – you think they will be happy then? No. So "uh oh they're saying this n that bcause theyre winning now" is rubbish. Yes, someone in 3rd 4rt 5th or w/e position may have for a moment that thought that 'hey, if something happens to those boogers in the front during sprint race, my car is mediocre but i'll have a great chance to win the race tomorrow then, yea.." but thats underestimating like every team in the paddock, they dont have so "low" thinking and all of them are real racers and even the worst of all is still a real racer, and a real racer doesnt bet on such chances
FIA need to stop the sprint races stop the americanising formula one for entertainment f1 is a serious sport just leave it alone nothing wrong with FP1 FP2 FP3 has a fan of the sport I like the practice sessions
I definitely prefer that the sprints are now completely separate from the main race. That's a good change.
Hi all,
Just wanted to say that I love your podcast. Perfect blend of banter and informative talk. Just had 2 questions for the podcast if you care to discuss. Why can't teams use a mixture of tires during a race during this modern era of F1. I believe some teams/drivers used to do it in the 80s. For example a combination of softs in the front and hards or mediums in the rear for rear limited tracks. I was also wondering what you think about bringing back mid race refueling from maybe 2026 onwards. With cars said to be more efficient than ever we could have cars with smaller fuel tanks (lighter quicker cars) so teams would have to factor in fuel levels and refuelling stops into strategy. I feel that it should make racing a bit more exciting and safety shouldn't be a concern because plenty of motor sports still do mid race fueling to this day.
@DamonHill litle sheiter.
