I think he went up to the linesman grabbed his arm – the linesman went to shrug him of by moving his arm back – mis-timed it and possibly was a bit high on adrenaline after being shouted at and abused for 45 minutes by those "fans" and over compensated. I see no intentto jaw Robertson – it was an accident rather than a deliberate elbow to the chin ( robertson is behind him as the match offical is walking away and he isn't even looking in robertsons direction – i think he'd cleared the arm and thought he'd left Robertson behind but robertson was still following trying to get his face into his field of vision)

Check this theory out: notice in recent years, the rise of the "buff" official. That ref from Spain ( i think) who looks like a body builder. And other examples in the premier league. Let's be real..football officials, refs and linesman chose their professions for one main reason: they were all, every single one of them , in their formative, younger years, the failed athletes, non- footballers, who as they got older, chose to officiate football as a kind of nerd's revenge hence why we all jeer and have all that disdain for them. For them it's a kind of fascist revenge psychology ( i could not be you at school now i will officiate your little sport and you will answer to me sort of thing), Mike Dean was the prime example of this … But now with the new , " don't mess with me , mate i've been hitting the gym…so don't get in my face just cause i called you offside you little wanker footballer" attitude of this new breed of "bouncer" officials , we now have an incident like this with this wanna be tough guy linesman who thought he was pretty cool swatting away a pesky footballer. That's my explanation of that linesman's actions. Whether he gets suspended, or how long he gets suspended for is of little consequence to me.
