I agree on the rule changes this year, I like them. But I don’t like some of the old new ones like the ghost runner and the requirement of a reliever must pitch to three batters.

Responding to “let’s see how Cabrera does, we may not need a left fielder”:
Even if Cabrera is everything I/we expect him to be, I feel like since he can play so many positions so well, a switch hitter of his caliber is worth even more to the team in the infield (let’s say at 3B), but the issue with that is just that the Yankees have too many infielders and not enough good outfield options on roster.
A hitter with the same production is worth different amounts compared to the field depending on what position he can play defensively. If the yanks can get a left handed or switch-hitting outfielder to fill that spot, Cabrera’s most valuable role to the team come year-end could be filling Donaldson’s reps in the infield’s defensive rotation if donaldson doesn’t necessarily bounce back (which I’m not as optimistic about as i am about Cabrera doing well) and the team is ready to move him.
I like the batter I project Cabrera to be as an outfielder, but i like that same production even more coming from a 2B or 3B providing that level of output as a switch hitter. It’s all about the team balancing the lineup and packing the most production into it as possible (while still fielding well) from the starting 9, and Cabrera can play nearly any spot on the diamond. Let’s plan to use him where his bat can help the team to balance the lineup overall and give the team the greatest advantage compared to the field of options at that specific position!
