Welcome to a very special episode of The Old Man and The Three with JJ Redick and Tommy Alter. Today’s guest is former NBA player, ESPN analyst and host of the Road Trippin’ Richard Jefferson. This is one of our longest episodes ever so let’s get to it. Topics include: Getting into podcasting and media, the early days of his player in-season podcast Road Trippin, the difficulties of actually winning a championship in The NBA, how he was sort of responsible for The Golden State Warriors dynasty, why Shaquille O’Neal (Shaq) was the most dominant player he’s ever played against, who is on his Mount Rushmore of NBA greats. Why Magic Johnson is the greatest Laker ever (according to RJ), how Michael Jordan changed the NBA for everyone, RJ reflects on his New Jersey Nets teams, why he despises The New York Knicks, how he got into broadcasting, reflecting on just how dominant LeBron James was in the 2016 NBA Finals against Stephen Curry and The Golden State Warriors, how he evolved his game by becoming a 3-point shooter, why The Denver Nuggets have the most pressure on then to win the NBA Championship this year, why he’s picking The Milwaukee Bucks to win it all and so much more.

  1. **Correction** SIX Guys have been the best players on the best teams that are currently active: LeBron, KD, Steph, Giannis, Embiid & Tatum.

  2. This podcast episode is like if 2 supervillains met up for coffee on their day off from trying to take over their respective cities

  3. Americans not knowing about European sports is ever so prevalent all the time Michael Jordan is not bigger than Lionel Messi or CR7 at all by the way or pele or maradona cute tho

  4. Just hitting the doordash ad and I'm loving this combo of JJ and RJ. I would love to see them collab more. Instant win.

  5. This was the funnest podcast I’ve watched in so long! They definitely need to take over for shaq and chuck once they’re gone!

  6. You can tell these two former NBA studs have the IQ of a Lebron and Magic. Articulate and polarizing. Great work JJ.

  7. This was the best episode yet, so much fun. Great insight. And the guys from the second row are always so much more interestin and have much better stories than the superstars.

  8. There has got to be a quarterly episode when you guys talk shop over drinks. And perhaps you guys alternate venues. One of my favorite episodes across all pods ever. Thanks for this. 🙏🏽

  9. Fantastic episode. Loved it. As a Kobe fan, way before his passing, I'll give you Magic as the most important Laker ever. Cheers, fellas.

Edit: The Block. "He should've been gassed out." I've said it before and I'll say it again: E.P.O.

  10. Cleveland Richard Jefferson was a weapon. He played 2-5 he guarded 1-5 and from my young perspective there didn’t seem like there was anything he couldn’t do on the basketball court. He was really that good. Still super athletic and tough; they don’t win the championship without him.
