UCONN ❗️🥹
UConn was objectively the best team in the Big East. They were 6 to 7-point favorites whenever they played Xavier and Marquette late in the season, which shows how much respect the books had for them. The biggest keys to UConn winning the title were Arkansas beating Kansas, Gonzaga beating UCLA, and Miami beating Texas. It probably would have been too difficult to run that gauntlet of teams. Sure, UConn might have beaten Kansas anyway, but all of those games would have been played in front of crowds that heavily favored KU, UCLA, and Texas. Need a little bit of luck to win any tournament
I remember when the Elite 8 was formed, there was a stat that only one of those teams ever made it to the title game ever. And that was UConn. So I was like yep, the title is probably going to UConn and we see the stats and the games. Sometimes you have to be there to know and be around people who know whats its like to be there to actually win it all.
UCONN 💯!
They're chasing the women. 🙂
Just the best school in the nation
No doubt, UConn was under-seeded. You could tell Early on in the tournament
And you know what sucks about it, none of them guys will be drafted. I hope im wrong because if you win that means your pretty good.
UConn doesn't dominate every year, but they remind every once in a while that they're a basketball school and you can't forget about them.
Their key was they were a much better team than anyone they played. Didn't matter where they were seeded.
2:08 what was that lmao
Congratulations to the hurley family and especially Danny who proved his mettle and acumen. Their ball and man movement was so synchronous on dribble handoffs back door cuts picks and rolls . He has his guys making all the " right reads " and when they don't they cover for each other . Defensively , they're so tough by limiting opponent opportunities which proves they respect the other side of the ball. Deep yes. I have never seen a more dominant team since the ucla years . Well oiled machine that is joyful and celebratory. Maybe even the future Ucla of the east.
I agree that the opponents they didn’t have to face would have been a greater challenge for them. They were fortunate to avoid having to play Kansas, UCLA, and Texas….especially I’d say Texas. There’s no doubt that you have to have some luck on any NCAA Title run. Kansas, for example, has played in 16 Final Fours compared to only 6 by Connecticut. During those Final Fours, Kansas lost 3 Title Games by a COMBINED 5 points. With a bit more luck, Kansas could easily have 7 NCAA Titles. All the other years Kansas was Top 2 or 3 going into the Tournament like 1997, 1998, 2004, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2020, 2023. None of those years were even Final Four years for Kansas. In 1953, Kansas lost the NCAA Championship game to Indiana by 1 point. In 1957, Kansas lost the NCAA Championship game to North Carolina by 1 point in Triple OT. That’s why just NCAA Titles alone are not the only measuring stick for greatness. Michael Jordan would only have 4 NBA Titles if the NBA playoffs were single elimination. Does anyone now actually believe UConn is equal to Duke in basketball prestige ? No one thinks that except for some blind-loving Connecticut fans.
UConn had missed the NCAA Tournament I believe in 6 of the last 12 seasons. That doesn’t exactly scream blue blood. Blue bloods don’t typically take that much time off. Real blue bloods have a consistency of winning. Having said that, UConn’s achievements are impressive nonetheless.
They didn't mention uconn beat Duke, and Kentucky in the championship game
ICAM with Seth Greenberg, as long as Dan Hurley is their coach they will be contenders
It's ok doesn't need to be Blue Blood. Being a Unicorn is better.
