Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville were in disagreement over whether Harry Kane and Abdoulaye Doucoure’s altercation was enough for the England striker to go down during their 1-1 draw at Goodison Park.

kane was a disgrace what a actor looked like he got a punch from tyson fury got doucoure sent off a cheat a great player lost my respect for him
It is strange that in football, the player HAS TO go down in order for a freekick or penalty to be given. The fact that there is a video referee, they can always stop the play and say, look, that's a freekick, that's a foul, that's a penalty. No need for the player to fall down and stop play in order for a decision to be made. How difficult are the rules in football? You kick the player, impede him, trip him, that's a foul! In rugby, the advantage played can last an entire passage of play, if no real advantage materialises, the referee goes back to the original incident and award a penalty! Why should football be unable to do this?
Central midfielder made a pass to his winger and got fouled near the centre of the penaltybox, the winger got the ball, cross and the striker misses. No real advantage… so the referee should go back to that foul and award a direct freekick! Simple rule to enforce. I don't see why a player must fall before a correct decision can be made.
Don’t understand why people hate diving so much. It’s a competition and people are cheating left right and centre. It’s literally a players job to buy his team an advantage on every call, every yard , everything . Yh i get it hurts when it’s against your team, but surely you must deep down admire it???
It’s also harmless. Not like a leg breaker which most here cheer on like it’s a show of how tough you are … machoism ??
Machoism vs helping your team win. I know which one I think is more fitting to a professional sports player.
Neville is right. Carra is just being too emotional. Footballers are taught to win. Put emotions to the side. Not care about embarrassment, just do your job. Your job is to win. Simple. Everything else is just emotions. Pro sports players have emotions after not during.
Just imagine that was Anthony or Fernandes?
Over rated pay , should be an actor not a footballer way I see it is the Everton's player was just protecting himself
That's man urinited mouth
I have PTSD from watching Kane get assaulted like that.
Kane definitely isn't clever. Bored of how soft he pretends he is. It's boring.
In rugby that would be an eye gouge and would get a ban for months – I guess 'Arry can do whatever he damn likes.
The one and only trophy Kane will win is an Oscar for this performance…
He must be the only person who calls him "James"
Come on, Jamie – you have said recently in an interview that you would do anything to win – even cheat.
Do whatever it takes to win. This attitude is why England don’t win things.
The hypocrisy from both is off the charts. Need to man up.
Let's be fair. In today's game there is at least a few players if not most in each team would go down.
Coming from an arsenal fan I don't think Kane should be crucified for his action while 90% of the league is doing it.
Of course he should go down ? The point is not is the action enough to floor him, of course it's not, it was to bring it to the attention of the referee in case he missed it ? Doucoure raised his hand, it's a red card, the dive made no difference, it just made the referee check
With VAR now being used, a red card would’ve been inevitable anyway. Kane didn’t need to throw himself to the ground
Bet his life flashed before his eyes 😂😂😂😂
Real men play rugby. Kane should be embarrased and the ref should give a yellow to any player that simulates injury. Its bad enough they fall over but to justify it by giving someone a card is embarrasing.
Yeah fellow players getting others sent off for an advantage is understandable but mugging for the effect to ensure he gets a red and a 3 match ban comes with damaging your reputation
Solution is keep your hands to yourself.
The End
Jamie should have showed Gary what needs to be done to put a man down…
Kane pushed Gray over, kicked him whilst he was on the floor (looking like attempting to play the ball), then follows through on Decoure catching him on the top of the foot. Decoure shoved Kane to say 'what the hell are you doing'. Kane grabbed Decoure and a few shoves were exchanged. The hand in the face was nothing but a flailing hand! As much as I respect Harry Kane, he was the instigator and displayed a lack of grace overreacting like he did. Doucoure should know better though. However, can you really blame Kane for pulling out all the stops when his team are having as dysfunctional time that they are?
naughty
1:22 exactly, part of the game which people don't like BUT if he doesn't get that player sent off BY ANY MEANS we're having a go at him Gary 100% right. We don't want people to dive or milk injuries but the alternative is we want the ref to send the player off without needing it to be made blatantly obvious. The sad reality is if he doesn't do that there's a good chance it won't be a red and players will think it's ok to be doing that which would be assault anywhere else. I get Jamie absolutely because it's not nice and we want everyone to be nice and play fair but there is $$$ at stake, you don't take chances with stuff like that.
Gary protecting his mate again
We need more people like Jamie Carragher, what a breath of fresh air he is
Casemiro touches a collar and straight red with pundits saying he should be arrested biase
Kane pulled his arm towards him
Carragher says he has no problem with diving. Wtf.
Kane kicked a ball at him then grabbed his jersey. Kane was frustrated and I think escalated the situation. By grabbing his jersey Kane pulled him towards him. I think he instigated the whole thing and then overreacted with poor acting. I don't think someone should put a hand in someone else's face but to pretend Kane was an innocent when he started it, is unfair because by grabbing his shirt, he touched him first.
There's nothing clever about cheating, end of.
Absolutely embarrassing! I really hope he stays where he is i don't want him at united!! Hes over rated
Remember when Paul Scholes did it to sol Campbell
Such a disgrace
hahaha Kane pushed a player down, walked on his legs then booted doucoure.. he should have been booked himself.. this is the England captain playacting and being a disgrace… in the womens game a red card was overturned and the player simulating was given a 2 match ban.. far more honour in the womens game..
I applaude Kane for once.. I'm a asion male born and bread in Manchester. This is the problem with English people they are too fair.
End of the day dacore put his hands on kanes face, as soon as you do that then that's it, I'm going to make the most of it. It is not cheating its making the most of your situation. Don't put your hands on my face and we won't have a problem! Honestly in any other country they wouldn't even debate it. Diving is a diffrent subject.
I mean thats how football is these days. You lose out if you act tough. Im sure harry wouldn’t have reacted and dived like that had this happend outside a match. That be too funny
attackers go down… defenders shouldn't is what this comes down to imo. Different mentalities.
Gary Neville!! I usually agree with your commentary on games but you can not be serious!! kanes reaction to that is nothing short of primary schools Easter pantomime!
